STUD or DUD: Is The Refreshed Lotus Elise Too Evora For You?
Carscoop reports:
"The most popular Lotus of our time, the Elise, is entering the 2011 model year with a host of updates that include styling and mechanical tweaks as well as the introduction of a new entry-level model with a Toyota-sourced 1.6-liter gasoline engine.
The facelifted model can be recognized by the new fascia up front that boasts a redesigned hood, new bumper with a wider grille, and reshaped headlights featuring LED daytime running lights for the first time.
The restyled rear bumper and engine cover along with the new alloy wheel designs complete the aesthetic upgrades that are said to help improve the Elise's aerodynamic properties..."

Cool not liking the toyota engine, they should use the mini engine or some of the new ford engines!

why? because it's made by Toyota or can you site specific flaws with the motor?

If I had the money, this would be my warm-weather weekend "fun car". Golf clubs can ride in the passenger seat :)
(my winter fun car would be an Evo IX)

Stud! But it still won't get me and my Porsche buddies out of our Boxster/Caymans. Here's what would need to happen:
1) Take this car and give it some crazy horsepower. Bring it closer to an Ariel Atom. Make it drive as dangerous as it looks...
OR
2) Add a couple inches to each dimension, more horsepower to match the increased bulk, and reasonable comfort. Maybe push it out to 2,600 lbs with a 260hp engine...still lighter and a true Lotus, but just more of a "real car"
I think they should pick one of these paths to develop from, right now it is a cool car to gawk at but it just doesn't quite bring out the checkbook.

Lotus is known for handling, not horsepower.
