GM considering adding a coupe to Buick’s lineup
The latest reports from Autonews, indicate that General Motors is considering adding a coupe to Buick’s lineup.

“Buick definitely needs more product in the pipeline. My role is really being a zealot for getting Buick more youthful, more spirited and probing ideas [for] coupes, more expressive vehicles. That is really my job.” said John Cafaro, director of design for Buick and Chevrolet in an interview last week at the Chicago Auto Show. So far, five models, sedans and crossovers were approved for Buick: the redesigned LaCrosse went on sale last fall, the 2011 Regal will go on sale this spring, a small sedan based on the Chevrolet Cruze will go on sale in 2011 while the Lucerne will be dropped in a year or so. Buick has also the Enclave but a small unnamed crossover will arrive either later this year or sometime next year.

Yeah, the new Riviera. A rebodied Cadillac CTS Coupe. Well, it's better looking and should be priced a bit lower. Probably no equivalent to the CTS-V, though.

I think the riviera name should come back as a more sportier car.....The riviera was one of the best selling buicks back in the day. I think the Riviera will complete the Buick lineup as it did in the past. The last Riviera wasnt that pleasing to the eyes because they tried to incorporate too much of the Oldsmobile Aurora into the back end and gave it that ugly shape(Remember the Aurora and Riviera shared the same exact platform).

It could also be the new GNX. Now THAT'S something that would catch the public's interest. Of course, I would love for it to be with a medium sized turbocharged V6...GM has a few of those...like the 2.8L twin turbo from the SAAB 9-3. Of course that engine would have to be massaged to give more than the forgettable 280hp that SAAB used to try to make people believe was something special. At least 350 hp and we'd be in business...Yeah..with AWD of course...

As Buick's flagship model, this coupe needs a V8 option. Thing is, there is no GM V8 option between GM's 3.6L motor and its H.O. V8's. Unless the XTS has some sort of V8 available they could share when it gets here, I dont think Buick should do this yet.
