Here Are A Bunch Of Reasons Why You Should NOT Valet Your Car...
MSNAutos reports:

If you haven't watched this YouTube video of parking lot attendants gone wild at the Downtown Hyatt hotel in St. Louis, it is worth a gander. After viewing this disturbing clip *video inserted down below -- ed*, which shows smoking burnouts and cars drift-sliding between the parking structure's massive concrete pillars, we bet most self-respecting car owners would rather drop their toddler off at a biker bar for a playdate than let another flippant valet get behind the wheel of their precious automobile ever again.

Of course, stories of crazed parking lot attendants abusing customers' cars have been social lore since the days when Ford's Model T was the most popular machine on American roadways. But now that everyone from the "Jackass" generation (kudos to you, Johnny Knoxville) wants to be a star and can capture video with their cell phones and post it to the Web, what were once the private hijinks of a few buffoons are now some of the most commonly clicked cinematic masterpieces on the Internet.

But how often does this type of abuse take place?...

Had you clicked you would have seen that the article's writer spoke to valets and investigated their point of view.

The only people that I will ever allow to ride my motorcycle is my local dealership where I bought it from. Same with a car in the future.

I dont care if my car smells like i took a shit in it and used the floor mat to whipe, the day a valet dumps the clutch, goes for a joy ride or does anything to beat on my car is the day i beat on him. This is why i park my own cars no matter how long the walk.Anytime you leave your car with someone you are taking a risk.It is not their car therefore most people dont treat it as they would their own cars. When I worked for Mazda, employees would take customers cars before warming them up and floor them into the garage to shut them off and work on them.I use to see employees park cars 1 inch from another, open doors into each other or fences and act like nothing happened. It use to piss me off so much, but it was the norm.It was like it was the customers fault for bringing in a car to get fixed,so we would treat it like crap.Always lock anything important in the glove box and reset the odometer.A car shouldnt be driven 3 miles when its being parked around the corner.

ummm...in Vegas atleast you should def valet ur car!!! If you park your car yourself and some jack@ss hits your car it's all your fault. If you valet, and they do something to wreck ur car, it's the hotel's fault.

True Story:

I was in South Beach in '97 for the weekend and the left my Mustang with the Valet. On the day I was checking out I called the front desk to have my car brought to front of the hotel...well 15 mins later as I'm getting off the elevator...I see two police officers standing by the front desk and my red hat sitting on the desk. I walk over to the desk and I could see glass in my hat. The officer looks at me...says "Your the owner of a red Mustang...license plate..." I said yeah...he says "...well your car has been in an accident"...I'm speechless at this point and just staring at him increduously...he says "it appears to be undriveable so can you come with us to identify the vehicle"...when I got there the entire drivers side was caved in because he had ran a stop sign drag racing a 7 series...needless to say the hotel had to cover the repair cost...They also gave me free accomodations for the weekend and dinner at some restaurant where I was told to order whatever I wanted...they bill came to $398 for two people. BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS WHEN USING VALET SERVICE!!!!

I use valets all the time - primarily for convenience. If they ruin my car doing something stupid then the facility that employs them is responsible. End of story.
