Who Makes The Better Car? Hyundai, Toyota Or Someone Else?

Who Makes The Better Car? Hyundai, Toyota Or Someone Else?

One company’s crisis is another’s gold mine.

In the case of Hyundai, the gold mine keeps getting deeper.

First, the automaker saw sales increase in 2009 by 8 percent, when the rest of the industry was in crisis and sank about 20 percent. Hyundai’s market share went from 3 percent all the way up to 4.2 percent.

Hyundai, I think, owes a very large thank you to the U.S. economic crash. And now it has someone else to thank:

around 6% of Hyundai’s trade-ins were Toyotas. Now, that number has jumped up to 11%. Toyota is the brand most Hyundai buyers shop against.

In terms of automotive engineering, Toyota by far exceeds anything Hyundai could do.

It's still Toyota - a very process driven and large company.

Hyundai still caters to the lowest payment crowd, but hopefully can turn that around in 5 years.

This is a horrible way to compare who makes a better car. Timex sells a ton more watches then Rollex but that doesn't mean the Timex is better than the Rollex.

The Timex actually keeps better time then the Rolex because it is not self winding with mechanical sensitivity issues and is more precise with digital computer display or quartz controlled movement. So as a time peace it is better, just not as pretty.

That is like choosing between a really slow boring car to an even slower more boring car.

when it FIRST came out, the camry v6 was the ultimate Q-ship or sleeper sedan. it was the first

first QUAD CAM econobox. even some true sporty cars were still making do with sohc.

the current v6, when IT first debuted, was the most powerful v6 in its class. even today, stronger v6s have to go to 3.7L or larger or add a turbo, vs. the mere 3.5 toyota. and, none are more fuel efficient.

toyota may well have displaced honda as THE best designer of powerful AND EFFICIENT engines.

and recalls aside, it is STILL the builder of the most reliable and LONG LIVED cars on the planet.

Cobalt SS gets similar power and better fuel economy out of a 2.0L lol.

Camaro V6 gets 50 more hp and identical fuel economy.

Accord gets a few more ponies and identical fuel economy.

Altima gets a few more ponies and identical fuel economy.

if you KNEW HOW TO READ, you'd've noted i said "when IT first debuted."

the camry/lexus v6 then became THE TARGET for all competitors. the cobalt is lighter, smaller, and much CRUDER so it is not a direct competitor. plus it relies on a BOOSTED engine.

and i'll presume you're going ONLY by hwy mpgs. the camry v6 gets good hwy AND CITY mpg. in the Rav4, it consumes a mere 1 mpg more than the Four.

i'll go out on a limb a bit, and say a camry v6 IS STILL a great Q-ship!

the majority of camrys are just 4-bangers. anyone with a strippo looking camry v6 stick shift, which MOST EVERYONE on the road will assume is one of the Fours, will have much fun surprising a lot of guys!

I just hope the former audi designer guy that now works for hyundai/kia designs that famous audi safety into them as well.

There was a collision not that long ago in my area: 04 Merc S vs 07 Camry. 3 out of 4 people in the camry died while the merc driver survived.

yeah, and if that Merc crashed into a DUMP TRUCK, ALL its occupants would die too.

how much does an S-class weigh, compared to a camry?

LOL! good shots, huu!

there are REASONS why camry is the best selling sedan in the country. every other maker is WISHING they can steal away a few sales, but few can really match it overall.

even tho' toyota has been trying to shave costs, they still make the cars quite good and just as reliable. from an article critiquing the cost AND WEIGHT cutting:

"Toyota-affiliated Toyota Boshoku Corp., chose a carbon fiber material that hadn’t been validated by Toyota engineers, the executive said. The material required such a high temperature to mold that sometimes parts caught on fire..."

still needs work, BUT...who else would even think of a carbon-fiber ROOF LINER!?
