Report: Toyota will have hybrid versions of all its European models
At the end of the decade, Toyota aims to have hybrid versions of all its European models on sale. The first — the Toyota Auris HSD — will go on sale in the second half of this year. It will be the first car to be fitted with the Hybrid Synergy Drive system.

It is anticipated to account for more than half of all Auris sales. Powering this car is a 1.8-liter petrol engine and a 60kW electric motor powered mated to a 27kW nickel metal hydride battery. The car produces 134bhp in electric-only mode, can run up to 30mph for 1.2 miles.

the Beginning of the End for Europeans' love affair with dirty diesels!

(even when you can't see 'em with supposedly clean modern diesels, they ALL still spew out cancer causing particulates.)

Hybrids are a flop in Europe because they're overpriced, complex and design-wise they look terrible. The Prius isn't exactly a success in Europe so what are you talking about when you comment on the "death of diesels in Europe"?

IF they were a flop, then why are so many euro brands lately JUMPING ON THE HYBRID bandwagen? 'nuff said.

(and euro cars generally are NOT overpriced?)
