STUD or DUD: Is The Chevrolet Aveo Good Looking Enough To Sway Consumers Towards GM?

STUD or DUD: Is The Chevrolet Aveo Good Looking Enough To Sway Consumers Towards GM?
Kicking Tires reports:

Last month, GM showed off the Chevrolet Aveo RS at the Detroit auto show as a sneak peek of the upcoming compact car. Here are the first official photos of the production version.

The Aveo, whether in sedan or hatchback form, has been a source of cheap wheels for car shoppers for years, but the new Aveo looks to be a significant upgrade in style and materials. Chevrolet wants to make it something more than just an affordable choice. The design of the sedan shown here is sharp, with a handsome front end that offers something on par with Ford’s new Fiesta. The interior — shown in images below — looks to follow the trend of the Chevy Equinox in terms of improved materials and design. The offset analog tachometer and digital speedometer are unusual...

Whatever it is, it's a good looking small car and miles above the last model. The interior seems to be far above the previous one as well. Let's give GM some credit for making an effort to redeem themselves. This looks like a fine effort.

headlights remind me of the last gen elantra AND the picture is of a higher trim level, no way the base looks that good (think of the corolla base vs the S)

I'm concerned, doesn't this overlap with the Chevy Cruze?

Its decent.Give the car some damn performance..anything better than what it has. Although it looks years better the name Aveo makes me disgusted as i think about the past models.

The Aveo competition would be the Honda Fit, Nissan Versa, Toyota Yaris, etc. The Cruze is competing with the Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla.

I am slightly concerned that the Aveo is going to offer more in terms of style and amenities than the upcoming Cruze. The Cruze seems like it took too long to develop and is going to be outdated once it hits our market. Especially considering the currently released details of the 2012 Focus and new Civic coming.

I see Mitsubishi Lancer in the front end. Not a bad design for a subcompact car. Hopefully, it will retain its subcompact price. If so, it will be a strong competitor in its segment. Good job GM.

Another bland Chevy of Daewoo. Where are the times that US cars were at least discriminative in styling. Wasn't Lutz supposed to bring styling back to the forefront? Maybe he should spend less time in his jet to get rid of his blurred vision.

Why does this vehicle look more appealing than the Cruze?

They need to shrink the bowtie. Good brands don't need to pound you over the head with their logos.

Why do almost all new Benzes have two badges in the front?
