Chinese Deal Collapses: HUMMER Now To Close
General Motors' deal to sell its Hummer brand to a Chinese automaker fell through Wednesday and the company said it now plans to shut down the brand.

GM did not give any details about why the agreement to sell Hummer to Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machines Co. Ltd. could not be completed, saying only that it was disappointed it was unable to close the deal.

Hummer will be back, especially after all but the socialists realize that AGW is a hoax.

haha 1950's are long gone buddy. And they are NEVER coming back. That is something people like you have a hard time grasping.

This dumb company never even should have existed. Classic example of neocon stupidity and excess.

Good riddance.

they are just unpopular now because the gas went up. when gasoline was cheap, there was nothing wrong with a hummer. the Hummer fad was as popular then as hybrids are now... what do neocons have to do with anything? And Hummer came out in the 90's, what does the 1950's have to do with it? be sure that your retarded liberal talking points are germaine to the topic before you bandy them about.

heh it has to do with 1950's because that is where neocons still live. The world is changing, you gotto adjust to changes. Conservatives by definition oppose anything new. But it's ok, only a matter of time before you lose, as always.

Of course hummer is unpopular cuz gas went up. Geez you're a smart one. And what will happen by 2020 when $3 a gallon will seem like a dream after we hit peak oil?

It's over. Inefficiency, fossill fuels and excess are out. Efficiency, smart european like transportation, city planning etc, alternative energy is in.

And there is nothing you can do about it.

if neocons live in the past, then libtards live in a fantasy realm that has never actually existed. conservatives by definition conserve traditions and methods that have already been proven to work. liberals always have some fantastic new idea that promises nirvana and utopia, but it never really pans out.

haha yeah your traditional 1950's proven methods worked out awesome. Just look at our economy or hummer or anything else.

Take a wild guess when were the two times in last 100 years when conservatards had the most power? and when did the two biggest economic melt downs of the last 100 years happen? haha and I bet faux news wants you to believe that it is a coincidence.

USA became a superpower after FDR, a progressive liberal. After a decade of conservative Herbert Hoover USA was in ruins, just like after Bush.

Utopia that never works? Norway and Denmark have the highest quality of life and the happiest populations in the world, according to ALL the polls and studies.

It is your fanatical ideology that doesn't work

DinamoR, happiness is based on relative wealth, not absolute wealth. If everyone else is just as poor as you and has access to the same social welfare program. Then yes, people will be happier. But if you have some balls and wish to get ahead in life, then no, these social welfare programs suck, they eat up over half of your income! Money you could be saving/investing in a company, purchasing things you want/need.

Relative? You think the average Danish citizen has less money than the average American?? Hahahaha....Denmark has an average salary of $60,000 year and one of the lowest unemployement rates right now. "Libtard fantasy realm that never worked" my ass. Show me one country in history run by neocons that didn't collapse after more than 2-3 decades?

This whole conservative top down economy is played out and a proven failure already. We tried it back in 1920's and again in 2000's. Both times were followed by the biggest economic disasters of the modern age. How many times does our country need to collapse before you morons admit that your stupid economic policies are stupid?

lol a simple google search proved you wrong. 308523 DKK or $38023 USD is the average Danish income. Another google search reveals that in Denmark, if you are an executive, the government will probably take about 61.2% of your income. If you are a regular joe blow with a salary you have to give away 52.2% of your income to welfare programs (govt).

Incase you're wondering... that means the average Danish citizen actually "makes" about $18000 a year lol.

Denmark has a progressive tax system. Nobody there pays 50% if they make 30k a year. The average tax rate is 50% but you only pay that if you make at least $60k a year. If you make the minimum wage you probably pay under 10% taxes.

I think it is too high, I think the limit should be 45%, but it is a system that works for them, I don't hear anyone from there complaining about being impoverished, and they are doing very well during the crises now.

The average joe shmoe in USA is lucky to have $18,000 a year after taxes, health care and education costs.

You really need to learn how to read, or actually look up facts rather than making them up.

People turned so harshly against Hummer in the past 5 years, that there is no real market for them anymore. the Chinese would have been suckers to buy it anyway, i can't figure out what made them interested to begin with.

I wan't a Hummer fan, but hate to see people lose jobs if has to close doors. What gives with all the political comments - Hummer wasn't left or right. It was just another GM product.

Hummer was pushed by all the Bushies and the oil companies that back them. They killed the clean air act in California back in 2003 (with republican help) that called for more fuel efficient vehicles. And now they are bankrupt. HAHAHAHAHA!

And guess what? Now GM is investing in alternative technology like crazy, exactly what Liberals told them to do a decade ago and what Conservatives told them not to do.

your political talk is hilarious the funny things the exact same people that talk about how nonsensical Hummer was also are ones saying the governement shouldnt intrude on the market and let the market decide what stays and goes in relation to high performance cars yet in relation to Hummer you talk about how they made no sense. Last I checked until the whole green movement started there were hummers all over the place, so clearly there was a market for them it has since dried up as they have been been seen as a symbol of excess in a world of conservation. Hummer had nothing to do with anything political, GM saw a chance to expand a brand that had a cult success simple as that. Politics...this is the wrong blog for that, and certainly not a topic that it should even be brought up in

Not going to get involved in the politics of Hummer; The H3 Alpha was cool. If the brand would have focused on off-road worthiness over bling, it could have been sustainable.

The Hummer was a typical GM (what I like to call) "form before function" vehicle. People wanted it because it looked "cool" It was styled after the Humvee but got none of its off road capabilities, and Joe public ate it up. It should go away.

So I ask you this should sports cars "go away" as well? They have the same fuel economy but you can carry 4 or more in a Hummer and do it all year around when the fancy sports car is parked.
