Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon small pickups might be phased out
When asked about the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, General Motors Co. Vice Chairman Bob Lutz told reporters in Los Angeles that the future of these small pickups are “uncertain at this point.”

He had been highlighting GM’s strong product portfolio but had not made any mention of these products until it was brought up. Lutz said, “They may well [go away].” To date, GM has made no announcement if the Colorado and Canyon will be refreshed, replaced or jettisoned.

good riddance. GM's small trucks were always garbage, the stuff GM's horrible reputation was made from, from the S10 to these... who needs a little truck anyway? you either need a truck, or you don't.

Both of you obviously have not paid attention to the market. The Ford Transit Connect and the Dodge Sprinter are non-traditional vans that have taken the American market by storm. A real truck is one that serves the purpose of the person that needs it to work. Why get an F150 or a Silverado if all you haul around are flowers or tow a small compressor? get real, people. Have we not already repeatedly shown that bigger is not always better?

Point being that GMs small trucks were a POC. Nothing against small trucks in general.

One would think a smaller truck would be needed with high fuel prices, but these junkers ought to be scrapped. Gm should start from the ground up.

The S10 was a great truck for it's time and when GM replaced it for this it was a mistake, Not that it's size was a mistake but the design in it self was the S10 was around for years and was very competetive becuase it was a great design for it's time.

Well Ford is also going to phase out the Ranger so the only small trucks left will be the Toyota Tacoma with the worlds most uncomfortable seat, The Nissan Fronter and the Honda Ridgeline. Hopefully Dodge makes the unit body Dakota now to take some market share back.

UAW_(EX)Lax - Your so full of sh@t your prejudice is showing again. The S10 was filled with too many problems to list (I owned one). You obviously hadn't read numerous trouble reports listed in C/R they had. Learn how to post some unbias comments rather than making one side, never investigative remarks. You're just a nat wantabe auto enthusiast who knows little about the OVERALL car industry. If you did, you know the facts about the poor quality issues those trucks carried. (UAW1 was probably banned and now he's back as UAW_(ex)Lax).

I'm no fan of increasing Imports...But what needs to happen is to repeal the "Chicken Tax" on the importation of Small Pick Ups from Thailand
The Prices on Small trucks are out of control

agreed. tacomas are still quite popular here in alaska. but the prices have gotten even fatter than the trucks themselves, since 2000 or so.

i'll also add my FIRST HAND observations that the s10/s15 were POCs! in the demanding alaska environs, i have seen MORE DEAD and DYING examples of these than any other vehicle. with tempos only a distant 2nd.
