Toyota FT-86' design will remain almost the same, says its designer
Jaromir Cech, the lead designer of the Toyota’s FT-86, shot down rumors that the car will be completely redesigned after the initial shape was received badly at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show.

In an interview with Autocar, Cech said that the car “will stay largely the same,” however, a few elements are expected to change due to safety regulations and production realities. He said that the front end will have to be raised a bit to comply with pedestrian impact standards. The exterior will also get several revisions similar to those made on the Lexus LF-Ch concept and the production CT 200h. The car will be given more rounded corners and less intricate shapes than the concept. Instead of the highly stylized units on the concept, the car will have conventional lighting. In addition, it will be given a production-style interior.

The Toyota revolution has already begun. People are revolting against Toyota out there because of overrated quality, poor brakes, steering issues and of course the floormats! ;)

"The front end will have to be raised a bit to comply with pedestrian impact standards. The exterior will also get several revisions . . . The car will be given more rounded corners and less intricate shapes than the concept."

In short, they're gonna Toyota-fy it and make it as bland as possible. There goes what might've been a good thing.

It has better be re-designed as it doesn't look lightweight at all.

NO RELATION AT ALL of course. but why do i see hints of lexus LF-A design language?

others seeing this will swamp the showrooms.

and even those who don't, gonna swarm the toyota stores too simply because there's been such a long spell since an interesting toyota coupe.

204E60...You dont seem to understand that Toyota is the Japanese giant, not Subaru. In fact, Toyota owns a great deal of stock in Subaru and who do you think really has the engineering(prwoess)might? I mean really, it's just a matter of time before Mr. Akio Toyoda has his way re-building his great-grandfather's Empire back to the top spot in qaulity, reliabilaty, and the return of those great affordable sporty rear-wheel drive cars again. Again I say, Let the Toyota Revolution Begin!
