Toyota Loyalists Take On The Cause By Banding Together On Social Sites

Toyota Loyalists Take On The Cause By Banding Together On Social Sites
Toyota might be telling Capitol Hill it wants to regain the public trust, but judging from Facebook, it may not have lost it.

According to Doug Frisbie, Toyota Motor Sales USA's national social media and marketing integration manager, the automaker has actually grown its Facebook fan base more than 10% since late January, around the time of the marketer's Jan. 21 recall announcement and its Jan. 26 stop-sale date.

In fact, Mr. Frisbie said the automaker has been somewhat surprised by the large number of customers who have leapt to Toyota's defense in "an authentic way."

That's a testament to the resilience of the brand, but also to Toyota's ability to quickly pick up one of the most important tools in a crisis-communications handbook: social media.

Sounds like some people don't want to admit to their bad purchase decisions and are looking anywhere to validate their bad choices!

LOL!

no buyer of a toyota has EVER "made a bad purchasing decision."

but a FEW who don't know how to find N, or even control their floormats, have made bad decisions in stomping on the gas.

Speaking of which, Merc people basically invented the term self-denial a hundred years ago. Most of them pretty much dwell inside their own S-D castle.

There just trying to make sure when they head to dealership to trade in their Toyota that they get a good price for it. I mean really. Who in their right mind would buy one of these cars after all of this. The resale value of these cars will tank...

Nobody likes a witch hunt. People saw through the crazy lady who thought god finally stopped her car. And it's painfully obvious that the owner of a competitor is a little too biased to be conducting hearings on Toyota (and I wholeheartedly supported the bailouts, btw).

Idk what is worse, LaHood's and Congress's grandstanding or the media's reclkess hype. But at least people (other than those on Germanspies) are finally beginning to see through it.

OBVIOUSLY, the more money one is suckered out of to buy ANY transportation appliance, the more one has to justify to himself AND OTHERS it wasn't a waste of paying way too much.

so it's only natural that porsche has the most fanbois.

and in the case of rover and jaguar, they're probably quizzing each other trying to find cheap fixes for the MULTIPLE PROBLEMS always popping up! (this mite be a factor too, boosting the porsche figure.)

this also explains the "huge numbers" for hyundai. and toyota's # is relatively low for the volume of owners.

also putting things into perspective:

1,000+ number of traffic fatalities in CA alone, EVERY YEAR, due to DWI.

34 total deaths in toyotas from 2004 - 2009, due to DWS. (Driving While Stupid, i.e., jamming the gas to the floor and making it get stuck, then not knowing where to find N.)

Toyota numbers are staggeringly high for appliances, for example sony only has 67,811 fans while General Electric has only 862 fans.

Life is to complex and I think we need to eliminate problems as soon they appear and if is possible for us to do that. Cancer is not in our hands but buy a car of course yes. Why I have to buy a car with a dangerous problem and they hide for year theirs issues. People also like to hide the problems of theirs cars always, never ask about how is your car because everybody said is great " ".....theirs is a lots of brands in the market to choose just check rating , crash test of the model you select and then take one of them. Did you already see the crash test of the Toyota Yaris on You Tube , just see it...and they say on TV commercial it is a great car. Personally I don't have a Toyota and I never will, in my office I heard to much complaint with Toyotas owners about the quality, brakes system, replace battery year by year, attention on the Services Department etc etc, I personally don't want another problem in my life , this one is easy to eliminate, just select the correct and good car. Their are different tastes and color to choose, but why have to be stupid and pay for something that is not well made just the power of fame and this fame is in dangerous now because of them. Just think about it and choose the correct one for you too.

Some people in Miami area said that they are waiting that Toyota lower the prices of theirs cars to buy it , and put aside the dangerous issues all of this car has.
Interesting they never think about how important is a human life, people like this just think the way to obtain something for less this is more important for them. We find a lots of types of persons out side , this is the World we living now. Very interesting.

I now Toyota President have to feel very bad about this , no president want to face the world under this situation for real.
They also need to check theirs plant , quality control and more to eliminate any other massive recall. Others people said that is a complot of GM I don't think so they also have massive problem in Europe

Toyota is getting it big times at the moment. The fanbois can hug each other twice daily, it won´t change reality.

The next recall on the former quality boss is on the way ...

Avalon, RAV4, Camry, Lexus ES350 and RX350 have oilpipes, that can become leaky ... 934,000 cars with 6 cylinder engine are affected.

And please Toyota, go back to building good cars again. I don´t want to read new headlines about your problems on a daily basis!

Oh, I forgot to add, according to a few (anonym) fanbois, this recall is also caused by stupid drivers ...

By using the car in an abnormal way (=driving) it is possible that you (as customer of Toylex) enforce this problem! For god’s sake, stop driving! These cars are only reliable anymore if you store them in your garage (than you have no unintended acceleration, no braking problems and no oil leaks).

there are MILLIONS of toyota drivers out there. simple statistics suggest there's a FEW with brains running on less than 12 volts.

same stats suggest MORE THAN a few also expect total reliability from d3 uaw vehicles! lol!

Check your facts and not your emotions and you will see that for the past decade Toyota has had more problems than any other automaker from rusty truck frames to sludge filled engines and now this new wave of problems they have today. There are other automakers just as good as Toyota and I am not trying to take anything away from them Toyota is an amazing brand even if they are not known for truly fun cars or head turning looks they have a huge following and great rep. You just have to consider all things.

Toyota is done. I kinda feel sad for the fanbois though. The only thing that they could stand on was Toyota's perceived quality superiority. Now that the quality thing has gone to crap at Toyota, I’m not sure what the fanbois will use to proclaim “Toyota Superiority”?

Not only is Toyota done, but so is the credibility of their fanbois (if they ever had any credibility to begin with). Must suck being a Toyota fanboi right now.

Huu76,

So it's GM's fault why Toyota is going down the gutter? Toyota tried to follow GM's lead down the low-cost supplier route. It cost them both. Whether or not if congress acts on both of them, or only Toyota really doesn't matter. The simple fact is that Toyota chose money over safety. Toyota is getting what they deserve.

507: "Avalon, RAV4, Camry, Lexus ES350 and RX350 have oilpipes, that can become leaky ... 934,000 cars with 6 cylinder engine are affected."

so the gov't goons --er, agents-- went on a massive witch hunt thru tons of records looking for evidence of more, dangerous, KILLER toyota problems, and all they could dig up were... POTENTIALLY leaky oil lines?

LMAO! toyotas will still be in the shop for unscheduled visits 1/10 as often as other cars.
