GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Audi's RS5 Is Not Just A Stunner In Studio Shots, Take A Look At It In Real-Life
Oh-kay, so you have read the press releases and have been overloaded with the same information on the all-new Audi RS5. But, let's get down to brass tacks. How does this sucker look in the flesh?

Well, as 001 found out in Geneva, it is a brilliant piece of machinery. 001 cannot get enough of the front lip on this car.

Other exterior stand-outs are the 19 inch wheels with a big brake kit glowing underneath and oval "RS" exhaust tips.

On the interior the show car is outfitted with carbon fiber and the infamous "Vader" seats that we do not seem to get in the U.S. Hopefully, that will change soon!

What are your thoughts on the all-new RS5?

Every car maker wants to develop a signature look. Audi has found theirs and it is appealing. I suppose its better than most other car makers out there that sway with the breeze changing from one new design motif to the next.

Call it what you want, but companies in the business of making money call it "brand recognition." Don't get me wrong. There's room for a bit of innovation too. Just look at all the copycats now employing some sort of bright white LED lights on the front of the car and have the big shield grill.

to me there is really nothing that saya that car is an RS5.....I mean you have some pretty ordinary 5 star wheels, silver mirror covers(nice subtle touch), a silver bottom lip on the front fascia. I mean other than the engine these look like parts I can buy on Ebay at a discounted price. it looks like a DIY car as far as the exterior goes. and the only thing that distinguishes the interiro are the Lambo front seats that they also used in the RS6 and S6. over all the exterior is ok but nothing screaming that it is exclusive to the regular A5 or S5. thats the dept Audi needs work in.

I thought that the Audi "RS" models were characterized by aggresive extended wheel arches. This car looks like an S5 with a different body kit.

Not wheel arches, but "blisters."

The red does not show this off very well, silver would make it more apparent.

It would look much better without the "diapers".

It looks a lot better than the M3 in and out.

What is the cause of the "may not come to the US" I've been reading in other artcles on the RS5? Is it purely an exhange rate issue, an emmissions issue, or something else ("phhhhttt...ha, ha, you can't have one")?

This car is hot. The seats look great so does the outside and the interior but (always a but) the way audi prices their cars this car will end up costing way too much for what you get but one can hope i guess.

I believe every brand has a certain degree of similaries in their car dessign lineup. BMW designs look familar throughout their lineup; Mercedes now has that similar front end design throughout it's models; Volvo new S60 model which was previewed at the Geneva Show will be the "look" for all future Volvo designs. It's just the norm in the auto industry. I own a 2009 3 series and recently purchased an Audi A4 2010. They are both beautiful cars with their unique distinctions. I personally think Audi has a hit with this. I also think the new 5 series will be well received and is a gorgeous automobile (especially after that Bangle butt era on the 7ers). Good job Audi; it gives car enthusiast another choice.
