The Line Starts Where? Lexus Confirms CT 200h Is Bound For U.S. Market
The all-new Lexus CT 200h premium hybrid hatchback, which had its world premiere at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show today, will be sold in the U.S.A. after all as the news was officially confirmed today by the Japanese automaker.
Lexus' second dedicated hybrid model after the recently launched HS 250h and fifth hybrid vehicle in its U.S. line-up will be on display for the first time in North America at the 2010 New York Auto Show that runs from March 31 through April 11. What is with these fake articles?! There is NO WAY that is real car. NO WAY. I threw-up in mouth a little bit when I looked at that side view shot. It is clearly a photo-shop by a disgruntled toyota owner who is trying bash toyota/lexus.
Disturbing.

This will be interesting to see how it goes.
North americans are very fond of the Lexus brand, but they tend to generally hate 5 doors/hatchback cars because we all know that a vehicle with a door at the back is a sign of extreme poverty, unless it is fitted on a vehicle that pretends to be truck (read SUV, crossover, ).
Can Lexus makes americans buy hatchbacks ?

According to last gen IS wagon sales, they'll fail.
That IS Wagon was a cool car IMO, probably the coolest thing made buy Lexus so far.

If it can push 50mpg like a prius (and it should given it's the same size and engine)... then I wouldn't even think twice about getting this over a prius. Looks much nicer, more luxurious, probably handles much better, that awesome lexus mouse thing. I just hope that they direct inject the engine for better mileage and power.

I agree with most of your assessment of the car, but I think Direct Injection would add too much cost for this engine, with not enough benefit. They'll just lift the engine completely from the Prius. Remmber this version of HSD3 (or Lexus HD2) is new this year. I can't imagine them tweaking it yet. How aboout a CT300h with HSD3 attached to the 2.5L instead of the older HSD2 and 2.4L combo powerplant of the Camry and HS250h? That's be more than enough power (with superb fuel economy) for this little hot hatch.

It'll sell in small quantities in the same markets that the A3 and the 135i sell in, LA, SF and NY. Until gas hits $4.00 a gallon again, that's the best Lexus can hope for. I'll look for a used one in a couple years.

If it looked ident to the concept then that would be one thing. But it's not even really close. Too bad too....

WOW! I dislike wagons, but this and the A3 have made some serious strides in the segment. The only problem is, it will steal sales from the RX instead of other brands.

Don't worry there is gonna be a line, Lexus always sells. And why the hate? I know it ain't the best looking car out there but it shore does look better than a A3 or 1-serie's!

and what's wrong with that?
with respect to state of the art engines and reliabililty, regular TOYOTAs are FULLY the equal of the german U3 (unreliable trio, actually surpassed by the D3 now on reliability>)
if TMC had put all the lexus money and development into toyota, TOYOTA would be whomping the euro brands even more!
the lexus brand and prestige makes perfect sense.
and until recently, lexus had the ADDITIONAL prestige of NOT offering 4-bangers and diesels in the same showroom with the luxury v8 and highly refined v6 models. and THIS lexus Four is backed by a high tech hybrid system.
(which the germans are STILL trying to figure out how make in the right combo with an ICE.)

"and until recently, lexus had the ADDITIONAL prestige of NOT offering 4-bangers and diesels in the same showroom with the luxury v8 and highly refined v6 models. and THIS lexus Four is backed by a high tech hybrid system."
Typical Lexus fanboy excuses. So the CT200h is "ok for a 4-cylinder" because it has an additional electric motor on board? How the hell does this make the 4-cylinder in the car "better"? You Lexus clowns are so full of shit and excuses it's a pain to read your comments at times.
Porsche and BMW, Alfa Romeo, even Mercedes, have WON RACES/CHAMPIONSHIPS with 4-cylinder motors. So please tell me again what the hell is wrong with a 4-cylinder engine and why it isn't appropriate for a luxury car? Everywhere else in the world a 4-cylinder motor in a luxury car is an accepted fact. Only insecure Americans, most of them apparently Lexus owners, seem to think otherwise.
And don't go talking about "Lexus prestige" because anyone who knows automotive history will know that the "prestige" Lexus has is nothing compared to its European rivals based on heritage, history, innovation, motorsport etc.

simpleminded dumbkopff as usual confuses "history" with prestige.
did you mean the bmw history of making carbon copy austins? and their fantastic isetta (also a carbon copy of italian one-lunger), that even subaru and honda 360cc minicars PUT TO SHAME?
and how about audi actually being proud of their logo, derived from cobbling together 4 sick and dying decrepit companies? lmao!

I'm with ya David999 and I mean all the way. This car will be seriously fun to drive and very fast. Toyota and Lexus are goin to be kicking some serious butt after these little quality issues are behind them, but dont you haters think for a minute they will be resting on their laurels while the competion turns the world upside down.
