STUD OR DUD? Best Shots Yet Of Next Gen Mercedes-Benz CL Leak Out
The Mercedes CL has got a fresh new look, and a new name to boot. According to our spies the newcomer will be re-named the S-Class Coupé when it goes on sale in early 2011.

The styling updates are subtle but expect to see a more upright grille which features one chrome bar, rather than three. Also new will be the LED daytime running lights and refreshed front and rear bumpers.

This car looks almost identical to the outgoing model. What's with all the hoopla about?

this is my favorite mercedes by far ever since the early 90's model. The only coupe I know of that can seat 4 people 6ft comfortably. this thing is so sexy and it does look more like a refresh than a overhaul of the current model. Still looks the same but I would take this anyday of the week

Looks elegant and refined but WAY TOO HEAVY. With the amount of money invested, you would think they'd employ aluminum or magnesium alloys to lighten it by 500 lbs. It's more effective to increase performance by reducing weight than increasing power/torque

Quick! fly to Germany and stop them before the engineers at Mercedes-Benz design anything else without the benefit of your expertise.

On styling: non-descript. It looks just like any other generic automobile. Gone are the days of Mercedes Benz's cars having presence and distinction.

this car is instantly recognizable, even from a distance. nobody else makes a coupe this big... I wish I could see what you see, because I don't know how can something with those bulging fenders, contrived curves and swoops, and oversized grill emblem can be generic.

Ugly just like the quickly outgoing model.

The current gen CL/S-Coupe has a serious presence, but nothing like the 2000-06 model. The last generation was the nicest luxury car money could possibly buy until the Continental GT came into the market. After that, manufacturers started coming out with $150,000+ lux cars left and right.

I vote Dud, but then again, I never really "got" why people thought the original was so sexy. It's OK, not great. I see some interesting, original design cues, but I also see a lot of design themes from the Toyota Solara...which isn't all that great, frankly. Meh.
