TSX Posts Third Straight Month of Record Sales

Driven by strong TSX sales, Acura posted February sales of 14,146 units, the division announced today.

The TSX sports sedan set a new February record, eclipsing the previous mark set in 2005 by 1.4 percent and posted its third consecutive record month of sales. TSX sales of 2,674 units surpassed the previous record of 2,638 vehicles set last year.

"Last February was an unusually strong month for Acura," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, sales. "But we continue to build momentum with month over month sales increases for TL and MDX."

The TL performance luxury sedan was Acura's top-selling model with February sales of 5,169 units while year-to-date TL sales reached 10,037 units. MDX posted February sales of 4,310 units and year-to-date MDX sales reached 8,151 units.

I'm not sure how many Acura TSX's sell each year, but I never ever see them in the midwest.

Its an impressive car but lacks too many things that buyers who drop $30,000 expect these days.

The two most important being...

1) Over 200 horsepower
2) A V-6 or inline-6 engine

..."lacks too many things that buyers who drop $30k expect..." but continually sells more year over year. Interesting?? You probably don't see many because they are limited by production to about 20k (give or take) a year in the US.

And unless you are loading your TSX with every dealer option available and stripping your TL, they are not that close in price.

As for one-hit wonders, are you kidding. You call one bad shot, the RL, which by the way still hit Acura's target for 05 sales, but I agree is not living up in the marketplace, and you ask for growth. Most Acura designs now are at least 3 years old and they continually sell well, while lining Honda/Acura's pocket. A lot of other manufactuerer's would love to be "one hit wonder wannabe's" like Honda/Acura.

huu76, I guess I was speaking more about US prices. Canadian prices for Honda/Acura have always been closer for some reason.

And as far as safety for the TSX and G35, a G,A,P by IIHS for both probably won't make much of a difference, especially since the P is in rear protection. We'll see.

I'm trying to find the quotes, but most higher ups at Acura were stating anywhere between 15k to 20k units for the RL in 05 and they did 17721, so it was within their range. Not sure where the 1500 units off came from. Nevertheless, the car is a disappointment for Acura, especially Jan sales. Dropped like a rock. IMO it was priced wrong, too high. I think they had a winner at $45k, but at 50k there's just too much competition with the M, G, 5 Series, etc when equipped similarly. They'll need to do something.
