Cadillac CTS-V Wagon - We Know The Car Rocks BUT Will Anyone Buy One?

Cadillac CTS-V Wagon - We Know The Car Rocks BUT Will Anyone Buy One?
If any of you guys haven't seen in the past couple of days, there have been several spy photos of a Cadillac CTS-V Sportwagon floating around the 'net. And, I cannot say I am thrilled about this

Now, before I get on a rant here, I am just curious:

How many of you guys are interested -- as in you would buy tomorrow -- in a Cadillac CTS-V Sportwagon?

Do not get me wrong, I adore wagons, especially the hot ones. I love the Audi RS6 wagon and I believe if there is one car that should be imported into the U.S. it is that one. Additionally, I think the Cadillac CTS-V is the best American car ever built.

The problem is, from past experiences, wagons just do not sell well. Particularly hopped up ones.

The CTS-V has a great exhaust note, handles the curves with ease, has gobs of power, it has the best interior any American car has been equipped with and it even tore up Germany's Nurburgring.

But for an automaker that was just bailed out with taxpayer dollars and is not entirely out of the clear, I do not understand why the firm has decided to go ahead with a low volume player like the V wagon. Is the market bigger than I think?

Mercedes-Benz's E63 wagon was for sale in the U.S. but you would not know it because they are that uncommon. BMW's M5 and Audi's RS6 have not made an appearance in our market either. And, if you even take a look into the regular versions of wagons in the U.S. marketplace, they have not been volume players either.

Am I right OR are wagons due for a comeback?

Discuss...

Whether it sells well or not, the fact that it exists is impressive nonetheless.

I can't help but wonder if the same question would be asked of a European Uber-Wagon?

Answer: Probably Not

Why is this a wagon yet the almost 1000lb lighter Outback considered an SUV?

I've seen E55/63 wagons a few times in SoCal. All of them were in black too. Why is there a CTS wagon before a CTS coupe, let alone a V-Spec one?!?! Bad move GM...

I would take one but I would want it to look like a standard cts wagon with no V badges it would be a very nice sleeper car.

I feel so guilty... I want to buy the car, I encouraged the existence of the car, but I probably won't be one of Cadillac's customer for this vehicle. I'm just not in the market at the moment.

Hey somepeople need to extra space. It also makes it an easier sell for some husbands by telling the wife that the whole family can fit and it has more space for stuff when traveling.

The problem is perception in the market....Cadillac is not a strong brand and quality concerns for the average lemming that still hasn't heard of the Toyota recall still wants Japanese if they are rich and rent their car they will lease a BMW.

So they're going to come out with a 556hp CTS-V wagon, which would compete with nothing, when wagons of any kind just do not sell at all here, but they aren't coming going to come out with a CTS-V coupe to compete with the M3, RS5, E63 AMG, etc. You know, actual sports cars, cars people actually want and buy. "No" to a sports car coupe, but "yes" to a sports car wagon?

Makes total sense.

Spy photos? The caddy dealership by me has had one in their showroom for at least the past 3 months. I think they've just been getting feedback on it, it wasn't for sale.

I can tell everybody right now, nobody will buy one. I work at a Chev-Caddy dealership, and we don't even sell very many CTS-V's so no chance of a wagon variant being popular.

Are you absolutely sure that no one would buy one? If yes, give me the winning lotto numbers so I can add this to my stable along with some other vehicles out there.

I think something to remember is that it probably didn't cost Cadillac much to develop this vehicle. It's not like they had to create a whole new product and assmebly process to create the V-Wagon (as the CTS-V and CTS Wagon are already being produced).

The CTS, CTS-V, CTS Wagon, Soon-to-Be CTS Coupe (and even the STS) are all created in the same facility and on the same assembly line.

If they can do this (and it sell well), it's a win-win for Cadillac. If not, it's not like there was a significant investment lost.

Sometimes you got to take risks. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Great Looking Car.

Americans need to get over the dreaded Wagon stigma and equate wagons with sensibility, value and utility before they can be compelled to buy into a concept that Europeans have long since embraced.
