GM studios across the world submitted design studies for the next-generation Corvette
Ten General Motors Co. studios across the globe are vying for the chance to have their designs used for the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette. In late 2009, Ed Welburn, GM’s vice president of global design, sent out the invitations seeking for design proposals.

Welburn said that there were a lot to choose from and that there were a few that “were absolutely phenomenal.” So far, the decision has yet to be made.GM is looking to receive global input in deciding on the Corvette’s design in order to appeal to European buyers who don’t find the car appealing and to US buyers who prefer imports. In an interview at the Geneva Motor Show, Welburn said that the company is having difficulty with raising sales in the US.

This article must be bogus. I seriously doubt GM has a 24-36 month end-to-end cycle time for new product development, particuarly for a new generation complete redesign. What has Corvette engineering been doing for the past 5 years? Lets just hope the cartoon shown above is not where they're heading.

It's A Corvette, don't turn it into some freaky spaceship abomination. Just keep it looking like a Corvette, don't insult it's history. Keep it muscle and keep it american.

Seems like they are trying to copy the Nissan GTR with an American twist.

How? It will be RWD with a V8 only, naturally aspirated in all but the top model. It will be shorter, lighter, available with the removable roof or as a convertible, 2 seat only, lower slung, and without most of the technology used in the GT-R.

I fail to see your comparison. They are simply looking to get a more world friendly design for the car and possibly a wider audience.

Uh I dont know, maybe the fact it looks like a space ship? All of technologies you mentioned will not beat the GTR.
