SPIED: BMW's 6-Series Cab Gets Spied With A Soft-Top - Should BMW Make It A Hard-Top Convertible?
Car Advice reports:

Here are the most revealing spy photos yet of the new BMW 6 Series cabriolet. For the first time we see the front kidney grill outlines and shape of the new headlights. This prototype also has the real taillights fitted.

It seems the new 6 Series will be available in two versions, a hardtop coupe (not yet spied) and a canvas soft top (cabriolet, as pictured). Our spy photographers said they have checked inside and “knocked” on the roof and it’s really a soft top this time.

The new 6 Series will be inspired by the CS-Concept car and the new 5 Series featuring many of the same design cues, such as the wider grille and larger headlights. Engine options may also carry over from the new 5 Series...

Convertibles should ONLY be soft tops.
Tintops almost always render trunk space non-existent when the top is down, making it useless for trips to the golf course, supermarket, weekend get-always, etc.
One of the main reasons I got a 1-series cabrio over the 3-series.

I am NOT disagreeing with you.

I think this is the right way to go AND I applaud Audi for keeping it this way in its A5/S5 lineup.

Camouflage maybe? There does seem to be a cut line showing indicating a reverse-opening trunk which would point towards hard-top retractable roof.

Only lines i could find are Regular Trunk Lines.

I Doubt they would go the Hard Top way on this vehicle as they need Maximum Head/Leg Room in the rear of this vehicle.

I prefer hardtops. I never have anything in my trunk. On a trip, I would not put the top down until after I arrive at my destination and unload the car. I just prefer the looks of a hardtop.

I am glad to see that the roof flows all the way to the back instead of that cutout the last model had with the verticle window.
Softtop all the way.

What ??

I love the cutout of the current vehicle

+ the fact that the rear window arrangement allows you to lower and raise it electronically as it suits you.

It is definitely a smarter setup than regular soft tops.

I don't like it so I prefer to wait till final product hit the showrooms.

I prefer a hardtop, it makes your convertible a better all-year car. The roof intrudes on trunk space when closed, yes, but my trunk space is respectable and useful with the top up. You simply must consider topless motoring and grocery hauling as two mutually exclusive activities.
I live in the city and don't trust the security of a soft top. Also, cars with soft-tops only look good with the top down. 9 times out of 10, the car looks awful with its cloth top up. the only exceptions i can think of are the Rolls Phantom Drophead and the Jaguar XK... just my opinion. Everyone has a different preference.

DB9 & 6-SERIES also sport very good looking soft tops.

Not necessarily. Almost all modern convertibles (whether they are hard top or not) have a reverse opening trunk to allow the top to be stowed and the electric cover to hide it.
