Audi Q7/Pikes Peak concept

The Pikes Peak was AWESOME !!

The car looked very agressive and sporty. VERY modern.

Nothing like the Q7, which as good as it is, doesnt go where no sport utility vehicle has gone before.

It breaks no new ground, offers nothing but an all around better Toureag/Cayenne package.

Quite simply, I think Audi messed up in the looks department. It should look sexy, modern and sporting. Not big and bus-like. Those mirrors are awful. There's way way too much going on in the front grille and foglight surrounds. And it looks plain weird when viewed from the rear.

The interior is typical Audi excellence. However I wish Audi would start incorporating more of their futuristic interiors that are seen in concepts. This design is getting sort of old and dated.

Audi announced last week that they ARE NOT sending the Allroad to the USA. Audi knows all those buyers will opt for the Q7 instead. Smart move if you ask me.

I on the other hand am waiting for the new BMW X5. I have a feeling that because the 5-series drives so incredibly well, this new SAV should break new ground for just how sporting an SUV can be.

The Q7 IS the Pikes Peak without the glitzy concept detailing.

The basic body design is the same. Also, I think the fact the concept doesn't have the shield grille makes it look different.

To be fair to Audi, the Q7 does look very smart in real life, and there is no way all those concept details were ever going to make onto the production version.

What you fail to remember is that Audi's designers are experienced, talented individuals with knowledge on future design trends etc. I can tell you now that the Pikes Peak concept will look dated in years to come.

While it is all too easy to say you prefer the concept over the production model, but concepts are a bit like a flash in the pan, wheras the real deal must endure years of looking modern while appealing to a wide audience.

How can you say that "The concept looks real good, nothing like the Q7" when the Q7 IS THE CONCEPT VEHICLE! (even has the same mirrors!) Have you compared the pictures? This is as true to concept as you can get. The "futuristic interiors that are seen in concepts" are too expensive to put in production because they use exotic materials and techniques. They will make it in the everyday cars when they are able to mass produce them.

Here are pictures of the concept for comparison:

What CommonSense said with the following addition.

(Even the mirrors are the same) No they certainly are not !!

We must be looking at a different car.

The Pikes Peak looks amazing. Nothing like the Q7.

Notice how the body is trimmed of fat, unlike the buslike Q7.
