Should The Porsche 911 Say 'Porsche' On The Rear Like The Panamera Going Forward?

Should The Porsche 911 Say 'Porsche' On The Rear Like The Panamera Going Forward?
There are so many great things about living in beautiful Southern California but as a car guy, virtually nothing tops seeing HOW obsessed people are with their cars and how they customize them so personally.

As I was scooting up the I-5 last week I ran into this Marine proudly driving his brand new 911 and when I looked at it passing me, I noticed he had removed the 911 badge and in its place, he put the 'Porsche' lettering scheme from the Panamera.

So my question is should they offer this as an orderable item from the factory like the 'Delete Badge' from the factory and do you think it looks better than 911 written on the back?

Does it look good, great or is it sacreligious?

Our guess is you will see it this way on the next 911.

What say you?

You won't see it on the next gen. Here's why- too many models to choose from and Porsche is proud of showing it. You have the Carrera, Carrera S, Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S. Then of course the Turbo and Turbo S. Why would Porsche use the same nameplate for a plain jane Carrera as a fully loaded Carrera 4S? Not gonna happen.

That being said, the plain "P O R S C H E" badge does look good and would make an interesting option.......

More likely the reason he put "PORSCHE" on it was to hide the fact that this is the base Carrera and not the Carrera S. Or maybe he thinks that a Porsche is so exotic in SoCal that he better let people know what kind of rarity he drives. BTW Agent 001, his car would not have had "911" on the back, but rather "Carrera".

BTW, the reason they put "Porsche" on the back of the Panamera is to make sure that when a guy says "no way that ugly lump is a Porsche" his wife can say "You think you know everything - it says "Porsche" on the back of the car. You always know best, drive slower, I hate you, I want a divorce"

But they could do it like the Panamera with Porsche above the model designation...

So

P O R S C H E
Carrera S

My understsnding is that the buyer profile of the 911 Consumers does NOT include a desire of anonymity. In other words, the driver wants those around him to know which model he got, and hence the badging. God forbid if your Carrera 4S should be mistaken for a Plain Jane Carrera.

Does it matter? An iconic vehicle doesnt need badges/words to be recognized. Even Stevie Wonder could see that the 911 is a Porsche.

I'm a firm believer in less is more. Notice how Mercedes and BMW have minimal lettering on the rear. Very classy if you ask me.

Well I guess I'm old school. I wish they would have both 911 and "Carrera on the back. The 911 has been an iconic car and it has been their identity since 1963. Every Porsche has been styled with "some" 911 influence of some sort.
