You Know Vintage Car Prices Have Bottomed Out When A 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO Is On Sale For ONLY $20 Million
The Detroit News reports:

London -- A Ferrari 250 GTO being offered for $20 million is set to boost private classic-car sales that have already made $100 million in 2010, dealers said.

The 170 mph 1963 Ferrari is billed as the world's ultimate sports car by Canadian-based specialists RM Auctions, which is selling it on behalf of a Japanese collector.

Classic cars often fetch higher prices through discreet transactions than they do at auction. Private sales for high-value classic vehicles topped $117 million worldwide within the last two months, said the Geneva-based adviser Simon Kidston.

"People now realize that prices have bottomed out," Kidston said in an interview. "The market is buoyant for truly exceptional motor cars. Elsewhere it remains selective."

Even if you had $20 million burning in your pocket you couldn't buy all those cars. There is no way you're popular enough to get the lfa. Also, I do believe you miss the point, this is a collector car, not a track car or an every day driver. Go get yourself a Brittany Spears poster while the rest of us enjoy the pictures of this fine work of art.

The worlds most expensive paintings sell for over $100 million dollars. Most of them are abstract pieces most people would throw in the garbage. Yes, this classic car is classified as fine art, and this is a car most people wouldn't throw in the garbage.

Even in Japan it would not be considered a collectors item.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the Ferrari pictured is not a GTO, rather it is a "LM".

Nevermind, it is the series II. Not sure who would choose that over the series 1, if you are talking that kind of $.
