Toyota Owners Now Demanding Refunds On Flawed Vehicles

A group of Toyota owners sued the Japanese automaker Monday, demanding a full refund for their recalled cars and seeking a payout that could exceed several billion dollars.

Dozens of Toyota owners in Arizona and Washington claim the vehicles recalled over incidents of sudden acceleration are so unsafe they should be able to return them immediately. Attorney Steve Berman said many of the owners no longer trust their vehicles.

Actually I start to feel sorry for Toyota. Take the image damage away, because what is left could hurt them even more.

1. The "real" costs of the recall (new parts and labor time), which you can calculate
2. And than the amarican way of life (=sue the hell out of them), which nobody can forsee where this will end

This damage for sure will be bigger, even if the image upgrades fast again. And at the end of the day, what hurts most is a whole in your pocket.

It took Audi over 20 years to recover from the false allegations.

I can't see the plaintiffs winning the case in court. Toyota may settle a few cases with buy backs but I just don't see the vehicle owners winning.

I don't think it is the danger issues that make these people want to trade in their vehicles. I think they finally see how boring/cheap of a vehicle they bought.

Is there any way I can place blame on labor unions for this?

It would really make me feel better about myself.

Not in this case, the UAW can just quietly sit back and smile.

Class action ... Means the lawyers will get 3 billion dollars and the toyota owners will a get a coupon for fried chicken at the local KFC (valid between 1 am and 5 am on exactly dec 31st) and 1000 dollar coupon as a discount on their next Toyota (not valid with any other offers) where VIN etching and under body rubberizing are must install dealer options.

Result, a feel good press release. The media gets its freebies, the lawyers get the loot and somehow the public is left standing outside KFC at 3 am wondering why the hell did they even bother ..
