RENDERED SPECULATION: Is This Where You Want To See BMW Take The F30 3-Series?

RENDERED SPECULATION: Is This Where You Want To See BMW Take The F30 3-Series?
Take these for what they are worth, a French magazine's artistic renderings, but the Spies want to know:

Is this aggressive design where BMW should head?

Or, should they ride the conservative wave as they did with the all-new 2011 5-series?

It seems that BMW has taken a few lumps to the chin from critics who feel that the new 5'er is a bit too tame. But considering the 3-series is a car that cannot fail, as it makes up a significant chunk of BMW's annual sales, I think this edgy rendering is a bit too far over the line to make it to production status.

What say you?

E90Post reports:

French publication Automobile Magazine has just published these new renderings on what a possible next generation F30 3-Series could look like. While my first gut instinct when looking at these was that they took the concept 5-Series GT Clay Model's very sleek front end design and applied it to the future 3-Series I have to say the result does work. The details are still a bit to concept-ish and aggressive for a production 3-series, but the general underlying theme does flow quite nice and could be a success if something like this was taken to production by BMW. But you be the judge!

I hope it's not FWD or a V6.

If BMW abandons the legendary I-6 I would be very, VERY surprised.

A touch of sarcasm because of BMW foray (debacle) into FWD.

Reworded, 100% accurate, but less sensational title: "A nobody with no affiliation to BMW imagines what the next 3 series might look like. Does anyone care?"

Uh.....no.

One look at the spy photos even with all the psychedelic tape tells you it will not look like this.

If it's the ultimate driving machine then it should look like the ultimate driving machine. But how do you do it without loosing your mass sales (not real drivers) and keep enthusiasts (real drivers). The fastest most technological cars are in F1...so are the ugliest cars.
A real challenge for BMW. Like it or not BMW will tend toward the conservative side...mass sales = higher profits. Ferrari however with the new 458 seems to have finally found a nice compromise between technological content and beautiful design. BMW could learn from them.

They're making up for how under-aggressive the current 5 series is. Looks good though.

I like it, I would only make the kidney grill smaller.

Jeez...I'm going to submit a photoshop to a few BMW forums and come back tomorrow and see if it warants another crap blog entry on 'Spies'.

Anyone who has seen the video and photos of the F30 in disguise can see that the 'guess' in this French rag is nothing more than that.

I like aggressive. And Im sure it will have an available 4 cylinder turbo that they use in Europe that will still get the same HP and more torque than the current 328i.
The new 528i will have a 4 cylinder turbo.

I'll believe it in 2012, My 2006 325xi is great, but if they mess with the strait 6, I will buy Chevy Cruize.
