Are THESE Accessories Enough To SPICE Up The 2011 BMW 5-Series?

Are THESE Accessories Enough To SPICE Up The 2011 BMW 5-Series?
Left cold by the all-new 2011 BMW 5-series? Well, BMW may have the spice to liven it up to YOUR standards.

Seen for the first time are official studio shots of some of the accessories that will be available for the 2011 F10 5-series. Although there are the usual mirror caps, rear lip spoiler and things of that sort, one thing that has caught our eyes are the updated clear taillights.

While most clear taillights seem to reek of stinky cheese, these look pretty interesting.

Do these cosmetic mods inject some life into the largely considered "conservative" design of the all-new 5'er?

5post.com reports:

The first photos of F10 5-series official BMW accessories have now been released. These are of course not the only accessories that will be available for the F10 5-series sedan, and more will be revealed in due course. Seen here are blackout grill, clear tailights, car cover, rear CF spoiler, and chrome mirrors. Source: BMW.de

Clear Tail Light Lenses... Really?

What is this, Tokyo drift night circa 1998?

This is the first 5 series I liked with a wing on it I think it blends in well with the trunk the clear tail-lights I kinda do like but its sort of 90's at the same time. The chrome mirrors i can do w/o thats Audi's thing to me but it may look better on an M5 rather and plain jane 5 series. What I would like for BMW to show us is a few wheel and tire combo's maybe a deepdish 19 or 20 inch wheel would be nice in different finishes. I cant wait to go to the showroom this year and test drive one

Who says that the entire tail-light lens cover has to be always be red in color? 100% red tail light covers are so 1970's. I like the clear covers. Sure as heck looks better than red.

Frankly, I'd buy all of them! :P

The clear taillights have a professional taste, and I love carbon fiber ad shiny wing mirrors.

I agree (braces for cover from certain de-boosting)

In that picture up above, it blends beautifully with the paint color. Is everyone hear so anti-clear because Lexus uses them? Or is it because you think it's too "Japanese"

I dont think its news to anyone that the car you drive in the US will most certainly not have amber turn signals when sold in europe, australia, and others

Who says that the new 5-series needs "spicing up"?

It has been largely reported throughout the auto community that many have found the F10 to be a conservative design that is "bland."

Although I think it is a step in the right direction and a statement about execution in BMW fashion.

I saw a silver 523i on the UK roads yesterday for the first time and i have to admit it does not have the presence that the outgoing ones had.

I will wait till i see the M-Sport Kit before i make up my mind.

I usually prefer understated over outlandish designs but this new one might just be a bit too understated for my liking.

Chrome mirrors are JUST TACKY, no debates on that topic.
Carbon Lip Spoiler on a silver sedan is again Ghetto Levels of Tastelessness*.{ If thats a word }
Clear Lenses...... This stuff must be aimed at the US market.

Those taillights are fugly, and not legal in the US unless they have some sort of reflector in the lens or on the bumper.

If you check the last picture after you click through the "read article" link, you will see there is a reflector integrated into the new 5's rear bumper.

So, we can assume these lights will be oh-kay for the U.S. market as far as the DOT is concerned...

No thanks to all of them. Its a BMW 5-series, not a Honda Civic.

Kind of on topic due to the tailight talk...

Does anyone think its lame that when a new car is introduced it will have amber in the tailights only to be replaced by a clear or red cover for a mid-cycle "re-fresh". I can think of countless examples. All makes are guilty of this, including BMW (previous gen 3 series) and Lexus (current gen IS)
