Many are curious on how the new fuel economy rules will have an impact on the cars. For a preview, you can check out two sedans arriving this year — the redesigned Hyundai Sonata and the new 2011 Buick Regal.

It’s notable that the mid-sized 2011 Sonata, which went on sale last month, is lighter by 131 pounds when compared to the previous generation. John Krafcik, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, said that Hyundai won’t offer an optional V-6 engine. Krafcik added that while mid-sized sedans are expected to have a four-cylinder base engine and an optional V-6, right, Hyundai doesn’t think that a V-6 is necessary to be used in a mid-sized car.
