2010 Lexus IS F gets upgraded
Lexus unveiled today the all new ultra-high-performance IS F model for 2010. Back in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Lexus announced that the new car will carry a new limited slip differential which had happened as the full-blooded sports saloon has a better traction and stability in high-speed cornering.

According to the manufacturer, the engineers improved car’s lap time around the Fuji International Speedway by a full two seconds. Under the hood we find the same 5.0-litre V8 engine 417 bhp @ 6,600 rpm as well as 505 Nm of torque.

Why would they not install it when it was new?

And they are planning coupe model that Toyota will market as a rival to the 3 Series. The renderings for it looked pretty nice though. Unlike the RHT model (retractable hard top) they have now.

How is the Lexus IS-F 5.0 not producing more power? At debut it seemed pretty impressive but with Ford's 5.0 GT putting out 100+ hp without direct injection it just doesn't impress. Hope they can squeeze a few more ponies out of that engine soon.

The new Mustang's engine is pretty impressive.

Initially, Lexus probably didn't think that it would need power boost. The M3 is fine with the power it has, and Lexus is too. Mind you, Lexus didn't waste that 1 extra liter. It does have much more torque than the M3.

Of course, the Mustang 5.0 still has a better engine.

To save other people time, here are the stats:
IS F: 416bhp, 371 Lb-ft. of torque
Mustang 5.0: 412 bhl, 390 Lb-ft. of torque
M3: 414bhp, 300 Lb-ft. or torque

Makes sense for Lexus to not try to be over the top on power. It may scare off some potential customers. Although it does seem the IS-F is a great all around package.

While Power might bring in the headlines, its traction that will give your speed. The Lexus has enough power and not enough traction . The lower powered M3 beat it out cause of that . Power is only great when you can actually use it other than in a wheel spin.
The addition of an LSD and other handling tweaks give more room to use that gorgeous v8.
