Resale Value Be Damned: Toyota's New Incentive War May Screw The Industry

Toyota Motor Corp.'s recall woes would seem to be good news for American automakers, but the incentives that it's offering to help overcome a spate of bad publicity could spell trouble for its domestic competitors.

In recent weeks, Toyota has ratcheted up incentives on its cars and trucks. It's an unusual move for a company that has long been able to set its prices with little regard for the rest of the industry. And analysts fear that could trigger a pricing war.

"It's a cause for concern for everybody. They have a tremendous balance sheet -- the best in the industry -- and they really do have the ability to sway the market with their pricing," said Michael Robinet, vice president of global vehicle forecasts at CSM Worldwide.

from my statistical training and reading of posts, i have determined that HATRED of toyota is DIRECTLY RELATED TO love of lesser vehicles that are getting TRASHED by toyota in the marketplace.

and/or, simple IGNORANCE of the economics of auto ownership.

I am 29. Today I am posting between seeing patients at my private practice and reading research articles on treatment protocols on mechanical low back pain.

But go ahead and insult me I don't care. Also it isn't Government Motors, it is General Motors. When you use Government Motors it makes you very obvious bias standout even more. Unless you are trolling very hardcore, you may want to change your posting habits.

No, I really am 29. I have 2 bachelor degrees and a doctoral degree. I am a licensed chiropractic in private practice outside Louisville, KY.

But hey I don't know anything about you except that you have an extreme bias toward Toyota and you like to flaunt it like an Apple fanatic flaunts their bias. You could be the 15 year old in this conversation for all I know. I have nothing to prove to you.

FYI if you don't understand what internet trolling is then read the following link.

LOL!

yes, toyota DID screw the whole industry, by revealing to consumers JUST HOW GOOD cars can be, without having monthly visits to the shop!

yeah, it musta cost all competitors BILLIONS to upgrade their quality control apparatus. IF they had any to begine with. and they STILL can't catch toyota, hard as they try.

heck, even the Koreans have leapfrogged both detroit AND the euro brands, and they are the ONLY ones giving toyota a run for their money now.
