Under 21? Get In Line For A Sticker...
NJ.com reports:

FREEHOLD -- State officials announced today how they will implement a new law requiring New Jersey drivers under 21 years old with provisional licenses to place red reflective decals on their license plates to identify themselves as new drivers.

The law, named after Morris County teenager Kyleigh D'Alessio, who died in a car accident when 16 years old, is the first of its kind in the country and becomes effective on May 1, officials said.

The decals, which can be purchased for $4 a pair at motor vehicle agencies starting April 12, are supposed to be affixed to the upper left corner of the front and rear license plates. They can also be removed when an older driver uses the car, or placed on a different car used by the young driver.

The decals were originally going to be orange, Kyleigh's favorite color, but authorities determined red would be more visible...

What does this accomplish that teaching kids the rules and common sense doesn't ? Sounds like a way for the state to collect another $4. You want kids to be smarter then lets start with better education and shunning an anything goes society.

Yeah, so are we going to require stupid drivers, old drivers, speeders, people who change lanes without signaling, people who travel below the speed limit in the passing lane, tailgaters, people with bald tires, people with poor brakes, and all the rest to put stickers on to warn the rest of us to be careful of them as well? Seriously, this is just another way to get $4, discriminate against youth, and control behavior. It will not change a damn thing.

You should always be aware of other drivers on the road. I know plenty of 20 year old people who are far better drivers than many 40 year old people and far better drivers than the majority of 70 year old drivers. Maybe we should just not give them a license until they are 21, then take it away when they reach 70? Stupid idea supported by people who have not concept of reality, no ability for complex reasoning, and no desire to learn.

I put a skull-and-cross bones sticker on my 90 year old mother-in-law's car to warn other drivers that the old bat is on the road again. Finally, we got the keys to her car, found the title and sold the car.

We told her it was stolen.

This is classic. I need a sticker like this for my father's cars. He drives alright, but gets very aggressive at times.

If you were a teenage driver, would you keep the sticker on and/or transfer it to every car that you drive? C'mon, nobody will do it as it's the ultimate badge of uncool. Shoot, I'd tell my kids to take it off so that they don't get hassled about it. It's up to parents to teach their kids, not some stupid official with some stupid stickers!

How about we make the driving tests more relevant and challenging so that our kids are ready for the road? After that, everyone who is granted a license has the same rights. But no, that's too difficult to implement and we don't do things the right way. We prefer a "band-aid" which in this case is a red sticker.

Thats nothing compared to B.C. Canada, here we get our "learner's license" Which is a large reflective magnetic "L" we have to stick to the back of the car and you must have somebody over 25 with their full license drive with you at all times, you are eligible for that at 16.

Then, if you pass a road test at the end of a year of that, you now have a "Novice License" which is a green "N" you must display on the back of your car, but now you can drive on your own and only with one passenger (immediate family exempt to that rule, you can drive as many as you can fit) The rules with your "N" arw quite strict, 3 points and your license is gone for 3 months and you must start the "N" process all over again (which takes 2 years), oh and texting while driving gets your license revoked right away. Once you have had your "N" for 2 straight years, you are eligible for your full license. I wish we had little tiny red stickers, that would be way more relaxed.

If your lucky you have your license by 18
