Keep On Truckin', Where Do Gas-Guzzling Pick-Ups FIT In A Green World?

Keep On Truckin', Where Do Gas-Guzzling Pick-Ups FIT In A Green World?
MSN Autos reports:

Americans love their pickup trucks. In fact, the best-selling vehicle in the U.S. is not a car. For more than two decades, the vehicle atop the sales charts year after year has been the Ford F-150 half-ton pickup. This impressive record stems from the vehicle's rugged demeanor and stellar all-around capability — characteristics admired by all truck buyers, regardless of the brand they purchase.

Ever since the first factory-assembled pickup rolled off the line in 1925, it has been a symbol of this country's virility, a tireless laborer and trusted friend to working men and women. Today, most pickup trucks are still used to support a dizzying array of industries, ranging from farming and mining to delivery services and construction.

What differentiates modern machines from the trucks of yesteryear is that the mechanical workhorses built in the last 15 years or so are more civilized, offering luxury amenities and a level of comfort equal to that of a car...

The truck is here to stay regardless of the gas price, the only difference is how it is powered, electric engines have 100% of there torque at 0 RPM, that is good for trucks, when I move back into town I will buy another truck, they are way more versatile than a car, I miss driving over median/curbs when there is a traffic jam, and I can haul my art around in the back, sometimes my art can weigh a lot. And the car isn't cutting it.

In your world, We are all have different needs, but sometimes you get some people that buy a truck and for the life of there truck have never used the cargo area, thank God we live in a free world, we actually live in a corporate dictatorship, but that is another subject.

There is no reason they can't benefit from the same technology as cars. In fact they are large enough that it is easier to find places to tuck batteries and other systems. Some of the most popular DIY electric vehicles are small trucks...they just drop a bunch of lead acid batteries in the back, and the suspension is ready for the extra weight anyway.

As opposed to the Posers...who run our country
