Review: Lexus RX 400h

You've gotta figure Steven Spielberg can afford to buy any kind of car he pleases. So, it says something that he and many other Hollywood luminaries have rushed out to buy the new Lexus RX 400h, the hybrid version of the best-selling crossover sport-utility vehicle.

Now that I've test-driven one, I can see why. The RX 400h takes a lot of the guilt out of owning an SUV because it drives like the quick, sweet-handling luxury vehicle it is while also getting good gas mileage. You don't feel like you're despoiling the environment every time you run out to the supermarket, as some of us do in a gas-guzzler. Best of all, you can get a $2,000 federal tax credit for buying a Lexus hybrid right now, the company figures.

What do people see in this car???
It is no masterpiece of exterior or the interor. I am not sure about the prices in the US, but where I live it is 5X times to expensive for what its worth

It is a pretty mundane looking car, inside and out.

And I don't think a car can be judged based on how many celebrities are behind the wheel of one.

I'm not too sure it says anything about the Hollywood elites other than they are buying a very nice Lexus. Oh, I guess they can also claim to "care about the environment", but that's a load of crap when they step off their private jets into a limo only to maybe do a grocery run on weeknends in their RX. The only thing it seems to say to me is that they feel a little guilty...sometimes, or they've owned every other car on the planet, so why not try this Lexus.

Well, it's not as mundane as a Lexus, I can assure you.

It's Italian.

I drive a diesel and a gasoline car.
If that Lexus has the fuel consumption better than my 2 ton diesel, my next car is a hybrid.
I got 5.8l / 100km in a 2 ton car.

Beat that lexus :P

I live in Europe. IS is a smaller car than mine and 220d has a higher consumption than my car. ;)
I am not a Lexus hater, I dont like it because it is expensive, not the best looking, and not best put together.

I mean the fuel consumption is very good on the 220d, and I very VERY rarely see a hybrid. I rarely see a lexus...saw one today though :P
