World Exclusive! 2012 Lexus LFA Tested - Short Take Road Test
Finally, the yammering and chin-pulling is over. It’s time to see if Lexus’s long-time-coming LFA supercar makes supercar numbers. We’ve strapped on the gear, we’ve burned the gas, and we’ve sorted the data. And, as far as we know, we’re the first to have done so.

The above is what snobby and insecure people would say. But we all know that 204E60 is really the better than everyone else.

To my perception, this is a world-class high-performance car, which looks like a Tuner Kid's project. The style leaves me cold, so I cannot get excited about it. But that's just *my* highly-subjective opinion.

The £90,000 Porsche Turbo 997 with PDK does 0-62 {Not 60) in the same 3.7secs or 3.5secs in Sport+ mode.

And the Porsche does not look like a High School Project.

Not to mention LP-560 4
or 458 Italia

All these vehicles offer Equal Performance and Luxury for Almost 1/2 to 1/3 of the Price of the LFA which leads me to only one conclusion.

The Only people who will be willing to purchase an LFA are those who are after the Exclusivity of the Vehicle not the Performance.

That's what I'm enjoying right now. I've managed to do 3.38 in my new 997 TT with PDK. It more than a full second faster than my R8. I miss the styling on the R8 but the Porsche is an engineering marvel.

The LFA is a great car though. 3.7 seconds is no slouch and it's definitely exotic sounding. They've had more than enough time to develop this car and they certainly made it worthwhile it seems. It doesn't have the prestige of a Porsche CGT, SLR or a 599 but it's a right step in that direction.

"Out on the skidpad, the LFA pulled an even 1.00 g, above average..."

this ALONE, makes all "better 0-60 times for less money" meaningless. especially if the difference is measured in mere 1/10s of a seceond.

all real roads have curves. this car will LOSE 99.9% of all competitors after a few turns.

lol badgewhore, I'd rather have a car that sounds like a truck than a car that sounds like a mini bike. Also I love how a carbon fiber car with a tiny 4.8L engine still weighs more than a car with a 7.0liter engine and non carbon fiber construction, all while costing 6 times as much!

nope, that zr1 is still comes in $25,000 cheaper than the turbo and $15,000 cheaper than the cheapest Aston you can build. But I wasn't comparing the ZR1, this car can hardly keep up to the Z06 which I was comparing. You know whats really sad? Your 10 year old Toyota barely cost that much of a difference when it was new lol.

"That's why one is an ultra refine sportscar and the other is a crude truck."

How does being an ultra refine sportscar equate to being heavier and being able to pull fewer g's?

joe, you truly have a ONE-dimensional mind.

even if you could buy TEN corvettes for the price of one LFA, i have yet to see a human able to drive more than ONE car at a time. if a person is gonna go to the racetrack, carve canyons, and especially CRUISIN' the hot spots in town, there is no question the LFA would be the car of choice.

your one-dimensional, puny, weak ass brain cannot take the measure of ANY machinery beyond the performance/cost yardstick. the subtleties of OTHER dimensions totally elude you.

a timex has a FAR BETTER performance/cost factor than a rolex. and YOU would be the dweeb who'd choose to wear a timex on a date! LOL!

xyzz, the LFA offers nothing, it's slower than a vette and its standard features include almost nothing at all, it'll cost at least 40k before this car can be deemed anywhere near the luxury levels of cars in its price range.

yeah really, everyone knows the 911 has AWD. I bet the new GTR hits 60 in 2.9 or 3.0 flat. The LFA will easily nail it in 3.5 with launch control on the production cars. I think Car and Driver just didn't know how to use it, i think it was available on the car but software updates to the ECU probably meant they were still fixing it out. This is why the LFA is lent to these car magazines. The part of the article telling the story is the fact that they said the LFA isn't a car that would be considered Lexus' first try at supercardom. It seems like they've been at it for a while. All the blogs and car magazine 'enthusiasts' that say it has no soul obviously know jack and are usually biased towards cars that come from Italy or Germany. It seems they had a model that was stacked with every option as well. 3500lbs.? Curb weight is said to be between 3260 and 3400. They must have a porker in the seat. I weigh 165, and even someone at 200 lbs. added to the car would equal 3450. I guess they included a full tank and one of their 'heavier' drivers. Wonder what the official stats will be once it hits the market next year. Also want to see the Nurb. Edition stats as well with 10 more HP and increased downforce.

what? Lexus measures their vehicles without full fluids? lol that's horrible, nobody does that.

I have to hand it to Lexus. This car is a GREAT piece of machinery and anyone who says otherwise, is seriously a hater. Im saying this and Im not even a fan of Lexus. The styling is the only thing hard to get past. On second thought, it looks exactly like what it is: Lexus L-finesse design language on a supercar. I dont really think its "ugly", its just not attractive. The darker one does look better though.

If this car came out in 2007, then it would have been justified to buy it. Now cars 1/4 of the price can take it on in every way.
