NEW YORK AUTO SHOW: Carvel's Fudgie The Whale Has A Child And Calls It The Infiniti QX56

NEW YORK AUTO SHOW: Carvel's Fudgie The Whale Has A Child And Calls It The Infiniti QX56
Well, there is no hiding this one. It is big, ostentatious and probably attractive to those with extremely thick glasses.

The all-new Nissan Patrol, uhm...er...Infiniti QX56 made its way into the Javits Center today and the reception was not tremendously positive.

In fact, it has become the joke of the pressroom. Industry colleagues are shaking their heads and I even heard one individual claim that "it looks like a melting candle."

Then there are the obvious comparisons. Like 001's assertion that it looks like Carvel's infamous Fudgie The Whale.

I see it this way, if that's Fudgie, then where the hell is Cookiepuss?

More importantly, we want to know what YOU think. All of the automotive snobbery in the Javits Center today will not be determining the new QX's sales numbers.

Agent 00R, how about putting your opinion in a comment not an article. It's just yours and some press folks' opinion. This article was a waste of time.

@CarCrazedinCali

The point of our coverage is to give you an idea of what is going on at the show.

Would you rather be in the dark?

Sorry, he's to used to reading the other sites that are all in the tank and won't give their true opinion.

NO one in the press likes this vehicle and think it is an embarrassment.

Let's see WHO besides us actually tells the truth.

Opinions are a dime a dozen, there are plenty of posts on autospies about this QX. I was merely saying that you don't need to taint the car with your opninions before we can make our own judgements on styling. That's all. Better article would have been, STUD OR DUD- let us give you feedback as to how we perceive the styling, not have you taint the site with your opinion right in the article title.

Not saying this has a pretty ace but auto show pics are almost always terribly misproportioned because you have to be 2 feet from the car. The first picture is just not how the car will look unless you stoop down and get right in its face. Heck, even the average supermodel would look gross if you took a picture of her face 2 inches from her nose.

The "photogs" for autospies are using the wrong focal length. See, this is a great example of why people with DSLR's should not call themselves photographers.

Simply terrible design. What were they thinking? This is big steps backwards in terms of design from the current car.
Huge disappointment from Nissan after giving some nice designs like new Z, Maxima, FX and new M.

i think its Stud! its has curves and dramatic line, yet its very bold looking. its different, not everything has to have square light and a wedged shape. step out the box people.

I'd hardly call it different. Slap a Lexus badge on this thing and no one would know the difference. And that is not a compliment.

OK what is uglier this one or the last Gen one?

I actually think the design is very much in line with new fx and M. Neither of which I am crazy about. I think Infiniti is taking this bloated, curvaceous design language one step too far. That being said, I do think the interior is an improvement over the last gens, which was disgraceful. Overall I think Infiniti is losing the slight momentum they had started to build a few years back with the G. Totally lacking innovation and an overall poor design language.

I will agree, the interior is its nicest attribute.

Almost on par quality wise with LX570. ALMOST.

Very well executed. Design is right in line with its competition, like the Lexus LX and dare I say it, Range Rover. It's squared off shoulders, bold front end, and luxurious interior fits right in within its class. Nothing revolutionary here. One dislike... the side front fender vents... why?

It looks like a giant Nissan Cube.
