...That while the interior is probably built to a high standard, it doesn't really look inviting with its dark, cold greys and sombre design.

In fact, one could soon become very bored as there doesn't seem to be any redeeming features worthy of mention.

Even the ill-placed splashings of wood fail to create a warm atmosphere. It remains dreary.

Matthew: I personally like the black interior and wood grain from Lexus. I've sat in a friends GS430 and it's definately fine finished and luxurious. It's a smooth riding car with many attractive attributes which are ran by beautiful v6/v8 engines.

Taek: You're right and wrong about Audi having the same interiors. Their similar but of course mildly enhanced as the generations go by. For example the Audi A4 interior seems virtually unchanged from the previous one. However, perhaps they feel they don't need to have elegant designs to get buyers. Different marketing strategies, concept, and philosophy plays a great role in each company's designs. BMW targets a more sportier minded driver where as MB attracts the more elegant, conservative buyer.

Is horrible...why does it look red? Is it like one of those old Chinese laquered tables you see in a Chinese restaurant? I do not think that is elegant at all in that car. It shoulda had some nice aluminium or a darker wood. The dash design is pleasing enough, yet nothing too special. Reminds me of the new Camry inside.

I think the Germans are the only ones who know how to do a black leather interior.

Have you ever seen what a black interior on a Lexus or Infiniti product looks like after a couple years ??

The quality of leather may have something to do with it, but the color black just doesnt look right in these cars.

It seems that Lexus excels at Beige interior schemes and Infiniti just needs help altogether.

Their woods are usually glossed with so much plastic shiny coating that they resemble just that.

This is also where the competition cant keep up with the Germans. Any Audi, BMW, or Benz uses leather, wood, and aluminum that IS actually high quality and looks it.

To me this doesnt and never has. You see the difference.
