NEW YORK AUTO SHOW: EXCLUSIVE! The Spies Bring You The BEST Kept SECRET At The NYIAS!

NEW YORK AUTO SHOW: EXCLUSIVE! The Spies Bring You The BEST Kept SECRET At The NYIAS!
The SPIES have got one of the MOST intriguing stories at the 2010 New York Auto Show.

It is not a concept car.

It is not being talked about.

AND, it is extremely compelling.

But first, we are going to play a little game. No, this isn't like the game from the SAW movies.

Can you name this car? That is, if you can even see the car due to the lovely young lady...

Give up?

Yes, it is a new Audi Q5.

But can you figure out what is so special about it? Look hard...

Well, you probably will not find anything given that you have to walk around the back to see it...

Check this out...

Notice anything different?

Perhaps it would be the 2.0T badge that is there.

Props to Agent001 and his eagle eyes!

So, what does this mean? We cannot be sure. There is nothing being reported anywhere NOR did Audi issue a press release. Supposedly, people in the loop did not even know it was going to be here.

00R is going to do some investigating and see what he can dig up.

But if I was a betting man, I would say that we will be seeing a Q5 2.0T hitting our shores within the next year.

Everything happens for a reason.

"Everything happens for a reason." LOL and the easter bunny, psychics, and ghosts are real, too. Childish silliness.

BFD indeed.

It's great that they are bringing over the 2.0T Q5. But what would be even better is if Audi would bring over the quattro Q5 TDI as well.

The 2.0T is more than powerful enough for many drivers in the this vehicle, but I would like to see the EPA estimates.

It is big news. He did not post it yesterday because the girl was not standing next to it. It could be a solar powered Ferrari..if no girl is next to it, it is not news worthy.

@Fitz

Wrong, Fitz.

001 caught it yesterday but were not sure if we wanted to talk about it.

Yes, the Q5 2.0TFSI has been planned for US distribution for a while. It's the first of a large variety of different powertrains that will be offered in the US version of the Q5. 2.0TFSI models should be here in a few months but the real news is the Hybrid and the TDI versions which are also coming. Look for the 2.0TDI instead of the 3.0TDI however which is sort of a let down but we have to take what we can get here in the US. The Q5 is pacing about 20K+ units/yr for Audi in the US which is a pretty respectable showing for a $40-50K vehicle. The sales leader in the segment continues to be the RX350 Lexus which hovers around 100K units/yr here in the US, roughly about 1/3 of total Lexus sales here. Again, not a bad performance for a vehicle that just hit it's one year mark in the US. New fuel efficient engines will help keep the pace going if not even expand sales a little.

The 2.0T Q5 for US has been confirmed for 2011 weeks ago. I guess the "agents" are not "in the know"
