Will Toyota EVER Regain Their GOD LIKE Status Again?
General Motors Co. is poised to regain momentum as Toyota Motor Corp. suffers permanent damage to its reputation from worldwide recalls of more than 8 million vehicles, GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz said.

“We are well ahead of plan and growingly so,” Lutz, 78, said today in an interview at the New York auto show. “Toyota’s God-like status will never be reclaimed.”

GM and Toyota both said they will report U.S. sales gains tomorrow for March, when they boosted customer incentives. Toyota’s U.S. sales, including its Lexus and Scion brands, fell 12 percent through February after recalls to fix defects linked to unintended acceleration. GM’s sales rose 13 percent.

Honestly I have to say no. It is also very possible that Toyota could be replaced by Hyundai in the big 3 asian car makers. Leaving Nissan or Honda to take the number 1 spot, my bet being Nissan.

Lutz is a Putz. (I know, not original.) GM will never be Number 1 again, and history will show that Putz was there for the demise. Whether Ford or Toyota be No. 1 in North America is a question. And who will win between Toyota and VW worldwide is a question. But one answer is clear. GM will slip to Number 3 in the US and the world thanks partly to him. No amount of spin now can change this.

There are many up and comming brands that will make the market more competitive for Toyota. Toyota will keep there loyal buyers, its the customer that is not brand loyal that changed the demographics.

Sure, whatever. The question is can the Japanese gov't afford to continue subsidizing Toyota's growth?
Most Japanese probably don't realize they work 6 days a week so some cheap American can buy a car for 25% less, its even worse when the gov't manipulates their Yen so even they were allowed to, they couldn't afford to buy foreign cars.

Its always good if some company is going to go the extra mile to produce quality, Toyota has confirmed a long time ago that there blend of quality metal is not important, rust is not important to them, sticky gas pedals...I just heard that there sales are up, it goes to show how many stupid people there are, The only way I would buy another Toyota is if I was guaranteed the quality of metal quality and a no fine print bumper to bumper warrante for 100,000. miles, then I would consider one.

I still wouldn't buy a Hyundai, although a very impressive engine, Its interesting that they have a rust problem like Toyota, why do we not hear about it? Just like Toyota's engine sludge, there is endless pages of it on Google and Consumer Reports says nothing about it, just praise, I don't trust Consumer reports at all, I can't wait until a company decides to make a vehicle with no compromises in quality. They all claim they do but it is all bs.

I think only time will tell if Toyota will regain the respect they once have. It will be awhile thought. Once Kia and Hyundai out growth themselve like Big 3 and Toyota, it is very likely they will face the same problem that all Big automaker do. And than another brand take over the throne.

Toyota just lost it crown and it will be a long time before they will regain it back.

NO Hyundai is making better products now in all future models that are just screwed together better and have nicer engines, more fun designs and cheaper prices for the mainstream. I wish Hyundai would get more serious with the Genesis coupe and put that V8 under the hood and get rid of the RETARDED side curve in the back.
