NEW YORK AUTO SHOW: Does Porsche's All-New Cayenne Have The Best Modern Interior Design?

NEW YORK AUTO SHOW: Does Porsche's All-New Cayenne Have The Best Modern Interior Design?
The all-new 2011 Porsche Cayenne is one marvelous pieces of engineering.

If you are not convinced, please make the effort to see it in the flesh and if you are still not swooned at that point, get your eyes examined.

Here is what you should gather, it is not just a looker on the exterior, its interior is a massive step in the right direction when compared to the last-gen Cayenne -- which was quite dull.

Largely inspired by the Panamera, which is a good thing, there are several aspects that stand out:

1) The body-hugging seats
2) Aggressive, thick steering wheel
3) Bespoke switchgear
4) A tasteful mix of textures and materials

Oh yeah, and easily one of the best parts, the Burmeister sound system -- it makes a Bang & Olufsen system seem like a boombox from 1994 in the middle of a street.

The proof is in the pudding, take at the latest images below.

No, it's really not that nice looking. I'd say the new Infiniti M looks much nicer.

Not really the best design but certainly it is in keeping with Porsches design language!

OK I can't comment on how nice it looks in person but I do want to know why they need all those buttons, does the LCD touch screen not cover multiple functions?

Don't want it to cover too many functions.

Most of the time a Button is much more intuitive than Multi-Layered Screen Functions.

Nothing special.Has enough buttons to make the Accord seem simple. I like the rear heat (and ac?) controls. Exterior is a nice change.

I don't think Porsche has the best of anything in the market today. One can argue the Cayman / Boxster combo, but their high prices to performance ratio quickly ruins that argument.

Have to see it in person but the rear end is very bland also front end is not that nice. Overall okay design. I would give it 4/10 in design.

really hating the Hyundai taillights but otherwise the rest looks like a nice improvement.

Nice but interior screams rocket ship.

Inside looks too fussy..

Outside.. did they hire any Lexus designers ?

Looks to me like very little has changed except for the new, much sportier steering wheel, and a better application of colors (which has always been a patchwork for Porsche in colors other than black).

Wow, this things has almost as many cheap plastic buttons and switches as the LX! Whoever thinks this is one of the best modern interior designs probably thinks the LX is its closest competitor.
