I like how they promote front wheel drive as a good thing when they talk about the ES. Funny how the more expensive Lexus cars (also known as better) have rear wheel drive, not that "convenient" front wheel drive.

True Daytona, Lexus needs to make up their mind. it's "convenient" because it conveniently shares it's platform with the Camry! Now that's convenience!

Agree with other comments that make the Camry connection -- that is precicely why I was never interested in the ES. As for the IS, I understand they have abandoned the in-line 6 for a V-6. I happen to like in-line sixes for their perfect balance.

As or FWD vs. RWD, I solved that problem by switching to Audi Quattro and I drive confidently in the snow with summer tires although it would be better still to have a separate set of 4 snow tires on steel rims for the winter.

FWD cars have some maintenance issues (i.e. CV joints and their rubber boots). All RWD cars should be ordered with limited slip differential. RWD cars should have both limited slip and automatic traction control (very important if you live in the snow belt).
