2011 Hyundai Sonata hybrid coming in time for holiday shopping this year
As you may know already, Hyundai unveiled its 2011 Sonata Hybrid last week at the New York Auto Show. The new car uses a new powertrain architecture that is lighter than that of its rivals and holds a charge longer.

According to John Krafcik, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, the new car features a new battery technology that weighs less but also gives the new car 1.7 times the battery charge life of competing hybrid systems.

Ok I hope FORD has an unpdated Fusion Hybrid in the works. Because this is going to steal sells

Rather than steal sales from Ford, I believe this adds more healthy competition to the choice of Hybrids already on the market. As long as the Sonata is priced and positioned right, it will be successful.

Sonata just beat the Accord in latest C&D. If Sonata is crap, that makes the Accord what??? LOL.

Funny how you mention currency devaluation. Japan's been doing this for years to give them an unfair advantage against US auto industry. The Japs are getting a taste of their own medicine.

Sonata is cheaper than Accord and better.

Hyundai sounds like they're in real big trouble selling all those cars especially this announced Hybrid. So, Hyundai should just slow all this momentum down and wait for Toyota to redesign a new Hybrid before they produce anymore of these.

Hyundai are you listening? You betcha <wink>!

Huu, can't see the wood through the trees?

Take your blinders off. The Japs have some of the most corrupt, under-handed policies. The Jap Finance Minister said himself that the govt is willing to manipulate currency and devalue its yen. And no, this wasn't 10 years ago in case you try to deflect it with "the Japanese used to do that, but they are clean now". LOL..sure.

No difference in performance? Sonata beat the Accord pretty handily in C&D acceleration times - there goes your theory about Hyundai engines underperforming.

I don't think Genesis owners really cross-shopped with a long wheelbase Camry (Avalon), that looks even worse than a Camry.

No offense to Avalon owners, since your Mom probably drives one.

This car is certainly one embodiment of the one-hybrid. Get my interview Sonata engine-transmission? You gotta be kidding? There is no way a Hyundai dealer will be able to repair one of these units and the replacement cost so prohibitive that might as well throw the whole car in the crusher. But whatever ... I do not own a hybrid vehicle and most Sonata buyers Blue Drive never have owned any.
