SOUND MAN Installs An iPad As An In-Car Entertainment System, GENIUS or POINTLESS?

SOUND MAN Installs An iPad As An In-Car Entertainment System, GENIUS or POINTLESS?
Even though Apple's latest creation, the iPad, was released this past weekend, a bunch of Apple-obsessed car audio nuts quickly installed the unit in a Toyota Tacoma.

After taking a look at this video, let us know if you think this is the start of something bigger.

Let us know in the comments below.

Carscoop reports:

Apple's much-hyped iPad tablet PC was only just launched this past Saturday, April 3, yet we already have the first in-car application of the computing gadget. The people responsible for the lightning-fast installation of the iPad on a vehicle (a Toyota Tacoma, to be specific) are the guys from SoundMan Car Audio located in Santa Clarita, California...

If you find $40k Expensive then Play Your Position, to some people its chicken change.
And a fully loaded A3/A4 is more Luxurious than anything on offer from Cadillac, so i would not be quick to make jokes on 4cyl Vehicles.

Placing the Ipad in the Truck was not a stupid idea. It was a sensible challenge given that they have clients who show up and ask for Systems with Video Screens. so why not just use an Ipad.

I guess 7.6L V8 with Cheap Plastic makes a Luxury Vehicle.

Tell you what, how about you tell me how many Vehicles Cadillac sells around the World compared to Aud ?

I can promise you Audi sells more 4Cyl Luxury Vehicles that cost more than the Cadillac around the world than Cadillac does.

I guess only Americans are SMART enough to know what True Luxury is.

Hence why Bentley / Rolls Royce / Aston Martin / Ferrari / Lamborghini / Porsche / Bugatti / Louis Vuitton / Cartier / Armani / Versace / YSL / Bruno Magli / Gucci...... {List is Endless} Are all american Companies.

Only Compound Fools attempt to Judge a Vehicle's Luxury Credentials by using the Displacement. All NA Manufacturers have shown is that they are unable to match German Engineers in developing Efficient Engines, or High Quality Soft Touch Plastic for that matter.

Now I just want a dock in every single one of the rooms in my house and behind every seat in the front and middle row of my SUV! In the house, I'd probably want to have only one iPad (not permanently docked) because it'll be the key to all the hidden entertainment system behind every wall! If only I were an Apple fanatic - not a big fan of the limited capabilities (imo) when compared to PCs.

Say... Agent001, didn't you have a position at Apple Computer Canada? Didn't you say somewhere that you're a fan of a good interface because you're an Apple fan? How about doing something about your art gallery? Honestly, the pictures are great, but when I want pictures, I usually go to AutoBlog or NetCarShow. Again, I do like your pictures.

Seriously who pimps out a Toyota Tundra?

Out of all that Toyota makes it is the only one worthy of doing out, I don't like the saying "Pimp out" it reminds me of that tv show where those guys just make nice interiors and put big rims on and swear a lot and say pim out a lot. Not true car guys. The Tacoma aside from there cheap metal ... Camberg racing makes a kit for it to have 15 inches of useable travel, When I do a vehicle out it is strictly performance minded.

Ok you like performance but many are into having a personalized interior just as much.

Excuse me Mr. Penn, that is not a Tundra first of all. Second of all, thats his business. This guy (or anyone for that matter) can do what he wants to his car. He obviously has the $$$. I smell a hater! Although this would be more impressive on a different vehicle, this install itself looks pass that fact...

Lame.

Can't surf the web because it only has WiFi - no 3G in this model.
Can't iChat - no 3G
Can't email - no 3G
Can't transfer files - no USB port
Can't download books or movies - no 3G
Touch keyboard nearly impossible to use installed in a car
99% of the apps are for iPhone and they are pixelated at the larger screen size.
And you can't do all of this for only $499!
