Europe’s premium brands considering luxury small cars for United States
It appears that European luxury brand have decided that it is time to offer premium-badged small cars in the United States, according to the latest reports from Automotive News.

The first manufacturer to consider this is Bmw who is planning to sell a front-drive car slotted below the 1-Series while Mercedes-Benz may bring its next-generation B-Class. And they are not alone, as Audi and Volvo are considering similar vehicles. “We have a couple of challenges in front of us,” said Jim O’Donnell, president of BMW of North America.

The "First", sure ok Jimmy. Audi has been rolling out the A3 all over the US for years now, and they have long been planning the introduction of the A1, and now BMW is "first". Sure thing. I know you can't say FOLLOW as well as you can say FIRST, but, hey , it takes getting used to.

BTW, last I checked BMW never considered FWD cars as "luxury" vehicles, so whatsa gonna be Jim Bob??? Times'a'changing? huh?

What's funny is the 1 series was supposed to BE BMW's luxury small car. Unfortuantely they priced it out of it's segment as a replacement for the 3 series. Oops! You forget two more doors and an AWD option. Oh well, you can still get a used 3 series at a reasonably price.
