The WORST-Made Cars On The Road, Do You Own One?

The WORST-Made Cars On The Road, Do You Own One?
Forbes reports:

With a 22% improvement in sales last month, and despite the six-month, $4.3-billion loss it announced Wednesday, General Motors is likely to have its strongest spring and summer in years. Plus, the automaker had critically acclaimed new products at the recent New York Auto Show and the much-anticipated Chevrolet Volt is due out this fall.

Year-over-year sales of GM's Cadillac division alone are up almost 76%; sales in the Buick, Chevrolet and GMC divisions were each up more than 40% for March. The industry as a whole was up 24.3%.

Unfortunately just because GM's cars are selling well now doesn't mean they're the best bet for durability or value--yet. It'll take awhile before GM's new direction shows up in tangible new products at the dealership...

**Disclaimer: This is not our list BUT do you agree with the results? What do you think are the worst cars?

The list is as follows:

Cadillac Escalade
Chevrolet Aveo
Chevrolet Colorado
Dodge Nitro
Ford F-250
GMC Canyon
Jeep Wrangler

I thought the Escalade and the Wrangler were good cars. Can someone confirm that for me? I really want a Wrangler for recreational purposes, and the Escalade just looks like a fun car to own.

The Jeep Wrangler is one of the most popular vehicles sold by Chrysler....who wrote that? They sell 109,000 Wranglers a year. There is nothing better then a Stock Wrangler Rubicon off road. No other car company has better approach or depart angles, no other car company has locking front and rear differentials standard, accept the Mercedes G55 and Dodge Power wagon, they do not have enough ground clearance to compete with the Wrangler Rubicon. Nothing can beat this thing in it's class NOTHING! Every magazine tested them. The Toyota FJ cruiser can't even have a locking front diff because it has a weeker independent front suspension.

Some dork media reporter from New York city must have wrote this nonsence.

Jeep Wrangler is probably loads of fun. The Escalade ESV is not necessarily "fun" but its a VERY comfortable luxury SUV. Five friends and I spent a weekend in one recently. That was my first time in one and I had no complaints other than the gas consumption and that the exhaust note was bad *ss at first but when sitting in the third row, it became annoying after a while.

An Escalade is literally tons of fun. You must have never driven one. It is very comfortable, with seats that make you feel like a king on a rolling throne. The power and the exhaust note from the V8 are fantastic. Its looks and imposing girth make people take notice and get out of your way. If you enjoy feeling powerful and hauling tons of stuff while looking really good, then the Escalade is fun. If you do not enjoy these things, then you should probably get a Prius, and a matching purse.

lol this list is comical the Escalade for one shouldnt be on here the sheer fact it is on here means a few other cars should be but hmmm of course they arent its probably on for sheer shock value yet which is why I dont believe these things, also there should be some European cars on here also...lets be honest....especially if they are using consumer reports and other reliability rating companies as their sources....

I concur. I had an Escalade, I know several Escalade owners. They are reliable trucks. The title 'worst made' is misleading, because reliability isn't the only criteria. They also used value and safety ratings. I suppose the Escalade's poor value score really tanked it. I will admit that the Escalade is not a good value. It is excessive and expensive, which is the very point of its existence. A fully loaded Escalade Platinum will cost north of $80 grand, not to mention the gas guzzling.

A Deer ran in front of me when driving my 09 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon i swerved to avoid it and hit a curb going 40 miles an hour, nothing was wrong. the tire absorbed the impact the suspension compressed and it went over the curb like it was a little pebble in the road. I had nothing break taking it off road for a year torturing the thing. It's easy to maintain and has very good brakes and was the only car when we got 14 inches of snow this winter when I had to get to work to prepare for a critical meeting...yea bad car my ass!

THE ARTICLE IS NOT TALKING ABOUT HOW DURABLE THESE CARS ARE IN AN ACCIDENT OR THE STYLING OR THE SALES. (IN FACT IT ASSURES YOU THAT THE SALES FOR GM ARE GREAT). BUT WHAT IT IS TALKING ABOUT IS HOW RELIABLE “MECHANICALLY” THESE CARS ARE... AND SORRY TO SAY THESE CARS ARE NOT RELIABLE IN THAT MANNER FOR THE MOST PART. I HAPPEN TO AGREE PERSONALLY, AND IM SURE ILL GET DEBOOSTED BUT I DON’T CARE BECAUSE IT’S MY OPINION.

I'm not deboosting you because of the point you made. But because you forgot caps on. If you want to stress a point in such a matter... At Least Capitalize The First Letter Of Every Word... it appears less lazy and trollish at least...

you obviously didn't read the article, because the judgments were made on a combination of Consumer Reports scores for reliability, safety, and value.

Anything made by Chrysler will fall apart. Jeeps are overrated and poorly made, and the Dodge Nitro is simply idiotic.

I take offense to these comments - if it is your opinion then you are wrong. Although I will agree on the Nitro. I believe it was Chrysler's answer to the H2, H3.

@rubenkincaid: I hope you are making that comment from an ownership POV.

I own a 300C and the only thing that has went wrong with it is the gauges that "dance" when Im driving. Its crazy. It looks like the car powers off and back on. It does it for about five seconds and then returns to normal. Dealer has not been able to "reproduce" this problem. I know Im probably asking the wrong site but anyone care to tell me what they think this is???

I'd have them check the main relay and the main power connections. Also could be a bad ground somewhere. The escalade is just a Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon with a different front end, so if it is listed then so should those. Jeeps are awesome offroad, but they are poorly built when it comes to overall quality and fit and finish, but most true jeep lovers don't care because they are off-roading. I can believe the F250 because most of our trucks have well under 100,000 miles and they all have issues with the instrument clusters illuminating only part of the gauges, not to mention electrical problems. and the Diesel engines begin to run like crap after a while. They don't stay smooth with a dteady idle ike the cummins and duramax. They idle rough and smoke. The Aveo is just a daewoo with a bowtie grill, the nitro is sharp but poorly built with horrifically cheap interiors and the canyon/colorado are about the same level as the Nitro.

I don't like Chrysler post-'74. Their heyday ended before Ricardo Montalban showed up. Chrysler would not exist without a bailout.

Chryslers downfall was merging [being takenover by] Diamler. Chrysler was on an uphill trend with over 30 billion in cash in the bank when Diamler came along. Thats how Diamler bought White Freightliner, Sterling, Detroit Diesel and the like. Chrysler had some of the best design concepts that actually went into production. They had the first non-retunable fuel injection that pioneered the industry. Leading Electronic precessing and computer intellegence that was intergrated into MB brand. I have more, so try again rube.

Check your history and spelling, BFGHemi. Chrysler had 30 Billion in Cash? When Daimler entered? 30 Billion? Never happened, not even close.

The entire myth of the Hemi is so silly at this point. Chrysler hasn't had a true 'Hemi' in 30 years, and nearly all US-produced engines share the same original Hemi technology. It's a BS marketing ploy.

I'll always be a big Petty fan, and it's nice that you love Chrysler, but the only thing that has saved the company is Corporate Socialism. Chrysler made crappy cars for 30 years and got bailed out, twice. Two times. They have some earnings numbers to show next month; GM lost 4.3 B last year... it will be far worse for Chrysler next month. America hates Socialism, but Chrysler has been the largest auto receiver of government (taxpayer money) money in the history of the US.
