Will 8-horsepower Be Enough For The V6 Camaro To Outshine The V6 'Stang?

Will 8-horsepower Be Enough For The V6 Camaro To Outshine The V6 'Stang?
Carscoop reports:

The 2011 Ford Mustang V6's bragging rights may be short-lived if we are to believe an email sent to a Camaro enthusiast website by GM officials.

Allegedly signed by Cheryl Pilcher, John Fitzpatrick, Adam Denison and Scott Settlemire, the email makes word of a tweaked version of the GM's 3.6-liter V6 engine producing 312 ponies, or 8HP more than the current Camaro V6 and more importantly, 7HP more than the recently revealed 2011 Mustang V6...

What happened to the article I submitted? If you're gonna run with something else at least say that the 2011 Camaro has a HUD which shows driving information and turn by turn nav.

7hp will not make up for the weight difference.

Dont count FORD out so fast. The DINO reports are coming in with Real time HP much higher than FORD is claiming

I saw that on some site. I think Ford did that on purpose! Their 5.0 is even showing greater HP gains on the Dyno then the V6!

this won't affect the performance at all, because they're not actually doing anything. All GM is saying is the V6 was making more power than they rated it at originally, so this is nothing more than a corrected rating. In other words, it's exactly the same, the higher figure does nothing except give GM the ability to say their car is more powerful than the Mustang V6. Big deal.

I agree with JRobUSC. The engine was certified at 304 hp in the CTS but it wasn't SAE certified in the Camaro (slightly different exhaust could easily make 8 more hp). Likely there wasn't a change made but it is possible.

Nissan did the same with the 5.6 V8 in the titan, it was , and still is underrated in my opinion.

By looking at the 'maro it already outshines the 'stang. IMO.

Why does ford even make the cast iron version? There V-6 aluminum version is very impressive.

Still like the stang . I guess because through all of the automotive challenges throughout the years it survived and is still here.
