RENDERED SPECULATION: If Saabs Looked Like This, Would YOU Want One?

RENDERED SPECULATION: If Saabs Looked Like This, Would YOU Want One?
CAR Magazine reports:

At last month's Geneva motor show, new Saab owner, Spyker CEO Victor Muller, told CAR of his desire to build a new Saab 9-2. Today we publish two new artist's impressions revealing Saab's Mini rival and a dossier on the latest news of the 9-2 project.

Muller has shown selected journalists, including CAR's Gavin Green, his own hand-drawn sketch of the 9-2 he envisages – and these are our interpretation of those drawings. Our CGIs depict a modern take on Saab design, mixing some cues from the past but a healthy dose of modern attitude.

So when is the new Saab 9-2 coming?

Here's the rub. At present, the 9-2 is a twinkle in the eyes of Muller and Saab Automobile chief exec Jan Äke Jonsson...

uhm... no. If they look like the aero x concept then yes.

Super de-boost for no reason. You are right. Hopefully Saab can use Spyker Tech to make the Aero X a reality. This right here though? This isnt anything but a joke. (IMO)

At least it makes a statement. Quirky, yes.

It is interesting. I don't think I would buy it but I probably wouldn't buy a SAAB new anyways. But a new styling direction for SAAB might turn out very good.

I think this rendering ROCKS!

Only Saab I would want to buy, besides a 9-3 Viggen...

9-3 Viggen. Now that's a car on my list of cars I would love to own but will never buy in this lifetime. Has to have the Rescue Kit already installed. Never buy one without it. The 4 door was better looking than the 2 door too.

Hubba, Hubba. This definitely got my attention, esp the side treatment. The front end is too Fiat 500 for me. It has a lot of potential to be something new and strikingly different. I'd say yes to this, but only as a design study that has to be furthered explored and evolved.

Looks miles better than Fiat 500.

But that is not saying much.

Rear end is hot, front is at best...unique. at least they are not copying off anyone

The front fascia on the rendering on this side is different from the possible SAAB renderings on other sites. Take a look:

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/08/saab-92010-sixten-concept-renderings-is-a-pretty-take-on-the-rum/

With a front end that looks more like the new 9-5, the TearDrop concept looks more credible (and doable).

Yes. I'm shallow and stupid and I only care what it looks like!

The shape and rear end is growing on me but the front end.....WHAT?! The shape and overall design does have potential but the front end....wow!

I fear SAAB should have been the brand to go, instead of Pontiac. It now needs to be put to rest and the shame of this travesty of a current existence ended. This hurts, but I must now admit that SAAB has now become irrelivant. There isn't a single model they have come up with in the last 10 years that I would even consider. I wish they would give up building cars and stick to trucks and airplanes. No...wait...VW owns the truck-building arm and the aircraft arm is on their own. Oh well...I suppose a grave is the only answer...R.I.P.

Buick has proved me wrong these days but I always thought Saab, GMC, AND Buick should have left before Pontiac.

I thought it should have been: Chevrolet, Cadillac, Pontiac-Hummer.
(I know, dont get me for that last one)

Pontiac was at least decent in popularity, but Saab....You won't see them on the road very often if at all! Sorry GM but you've made a bad decision, keep Saab and not Pontiac....

Absolultely freakin yes, its a hot design. Bring it on! With gas prices climbing to $4 a gal a more, expect to see puppies like this selling like hotcakes. And, it better have a killer engine to keep up with MINI...and Mickey.
