We Told You First Everyone Would Make A 1-Series Fighter. Now That They Are, Who Will Build The BEST And WORST?

We Told You First Everyone Would Make A 1-Series Fighter. Now That They Are, Who Will Build The BEST And WORST?
In 2008 The Chevrolet Malibu, Cadillac CTS, VW Polo, Jaguar XF and a few forgettable others were named the Car Of The Year by numerous mainstream media outlets.

But only one picked the BMW 135i as the 2008 Car Of The Year.

AutoSpies.com.

We picked it because compared to the others, in our opinion it, offered the best performance bang for the buck.

But after driving it and foreseeing a major shift in gas prices/economic changes, we believed THIS was the most groundbreaking because it was the first time a premium company offered and affordable low end car equipped with their BEST engines.

So the buyer could get ALL the performance with virtually no trade off.

So I wrote a prediction that you wouldn't find in any print or web based publication for over a year AFTER I said it.

And that was EVERY single premium car manufacturer would have to have an answer to this new performance bargain, now that the bar was raised and the entire business was changing.

Now we've read that almost all have announced plans to offer one.

But just because you SAY you're going to build one doesn't mean it will be GOOD?

Remember when the Japanese were gaining momentum and GM announced they would be building a small car to compete?

And ALL the mags and press said it was over for Japan?

Only one problem...that car was the Chevrolet Chevette!

And the rest was history.

So our question is now that they have ALL announced 1-Series fighters are in the works, WHO will build the BEST and WORST challenger?

This will be no easy task for any of them as the 1-Series is an amazing product, now even BETTER with the upgraded turbo.

So who will it be ladies and gentlemen? Who will build the BEST and WORST 1-Series competitor in the premium segment? Lexus, Audi, Infiniti, Mercedes, Acura, Jaguar, Saab, Volvo, Porsche?

And will any of them out do the 1?

Discuss...

Here in the U.S. my guess will be the next-gen Audi A3 followed behind by Lexus. Across the pond however, I guess the VW Scirocco trumps the A3 and the rest as the closest 1-series competitor.

some of the aforementioned companies already have 1-series fighters, they are just not available in the US.

Isn't the A1 Audis answer to Mini. I believe BMW got there first. To that end BMW since they been doing it for years.

I am putting my money on Infiniti as they seem to be the closet to BMW. They can build one based off the Silvia.
