Pony Car Shootout! Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, And ...Genesis Coupe?

Pony Car Shootout! Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, And ...Genesis Coupe?
Originating in the late 1960s, the term "musclecar" has always referred to an American coupe with a robust engine designed to generate stout levels of both speed and power. In other words, a rear-drive two-door V-8-propelled Yankee capable of producing thunderclouds of Firestone smoke.

Today, much remains the same. Take a look at our recent comparison test between three modern musclecars -- Ford Mustang GT, Chevrolet Camaro SS, and Dodge Challenger SRT8 -- and you'll see that all are American designed and engineered (the Chevy and Dodge, it's worth noting, are assembled in Canada), feature brawny 400-plus-horsepower V-8 engines (the "smallest" displaces 5.0 liters), and are capable of quarter-mile times once reserved for race cars and import supercars (the Mustang GT needs just 12.7 seconds at 111.3 mph). It's safe to say that today's collection of muscle is the greatest of all time, certainly when considering the handling dynamics match the heady horsepower.

might want to change the title of the thread -- this comparison was between the Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, and Genesis Coupe V6 models, not the SS, GT, and SRT8.

"that increase front camber from 0.5 to 2.1 degrees."

bahahahaha, 2.1 degrees of camber? I can imagine the tire wear, but I guess this car needs it with the minimal camber gain it has.

Another odd comparison. Like wearing a Tux with brown shoes.

The Genesis coupe looks surprisingly good in real life.

The Genesis version is the top of the line and is being compared with all base model cars. This is a spin not a comparison.

The "top of the line" Genesis amounts to essentially just a sport package with a sunroof. The Mustang was equipped with a Sport Package stolen directly from the GT added to the V6 version. The Camaro's RS package is similar.

Spin as it was, the comparo was fair: the best V6 versions offered on each car.

It wasn't a "pony car" comparo, it was, as MT called it, a "Hustle Car" comparo b/c the test was of the V6 versions of traditional pony cars.
