Volkswagen’s sales in China rose 60 percent in the first quarter
With a 60% increase in Volkswagen AG’s sales in China in the first quarter, the company’s expectations were surpassed, according to VW´s head of China, Winfried Vahland. In the first quarter, the VW Group delivered 457,259 cars to customers in China and Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, the VW brand sold 362,874 cars, a 53% increase when compared to the same period last year. Audi, VW Group’s premium brand, increased its volume 77% to 51,440 cars. VW Czech subsidiary Skoda’s sales rose by 121% to 42,707 units. With this impressive start, VW anticipates that it will exceed the growth estimates that it expects in the Chinese market.
