Chinese luxury cars heading for the US? Good luck with that idea

while i agree that it will be a HUGE longshot for this co. to compete w/ mercedes or even in the automobile market at all, never count out any company. recall when toyota first came to a north american market dominated by the Big 3. everyone laughed at the thought that an asian company could compete and look at toyota today. obviously, they have a lot of work to do and i'm not saying that they'll be the next toyota but hey, you never know...

Selling Chinese cars in the U.S. bothers me for this simple reason. The Chinese have a history of copying technology from advanced countries (U.S., Japan, and Germany in this case), using a cheap labor force, and flooding capitalistic markets with their "products". This allows them to manufacture products that are on par with the rest of the world much cheaper than most countries. So don't be surprised if Chery's quality is as good as American and Korean makes. I think it's a stretch to say that they will be as good as German and Japanese luxury vehicles but who knows. We don't know if they will sell but if the build quality is on par with american and korean cars and the prices are routinely low, I'm sure they will.

I was readin in an article that BMW is joint venturing with a company in China that is making a luxury smaller car. A sedan that is powered by a 4 banger but with Bimmer looks.... will be interesting to see what they do and if they come to America....

But what if they gave a quality,performance,luxury a of 50000 dollars car, in 20000 dollars.

I am sure they will able to sell a tons of them, in any part of the world.

ANd even, u cannot doubt their cheap labour and production numbers.They might even produce 2-3M cars in a month.

That's a good one! Look how long it took Hyundai and Kia to turn into decent cars. I think the Hyundai Azera is O.K., but not exactly a luxury car. And now Chery thinks they are going to sell luxury cars? At least 20 years down the road.
