SPECULATED: The Low Down On BMW's Upcoming 6-Series
CAR Magazine reports:

The new BMW 6-series goes on sale in spring 2011 and these are our latest scoop photographs of Munich’s new coupé. The new Six follows the recipe of today’s sports car range, with a tin-top and soft-top versions in the pipeline.

Codenamed F12 and F13, the new 2011 6-series coupé and convertible are both 2+2s in the classic big sports car mould. They’re aimed at the Mercedes SL and Porsche 911 sector of the marketplace and usher in a new, less controversial design statement as is the trend in Munich’s design studios these days...

Those are not code names. Those are BMW AG internal chassis numbers. F12 is the coupe and F13 cabriolet as stated.

I always wonder if manufacturers just painted the car black, instead of adding those crazy psychedelic graphics, if anyone would even notice a test car driving around?

Sorry guys, its a slow day here at work.

That's a great question. I have also been wondering why they don't dimple the exterior surfaces like on a golf ball. On the show Mythbusters they showed that it does actually make a car more aerodynamically efficient. Gas mileage on their experimental car went from 26 mpg without dimples to 29 mpg with the dimples.

Slow day here, too.

The SL is the most recognized and most deared for it's luxury and potent motor. The 911 shouldn't even be in this segment. It's build is amongst the best, I'd say better than an SL and a 6-series but it's not really a luxury car. It goes like this: SL, 6 series, 911 if these were the cars compared.

6 series is more like E coupe....but even in that case those cars are milles away from each other....SL is not match for 911 in sport and 911 is not up to the SL level when we talk about luxury, 6 series is like a mix of the qualities of the SL and 911 but not so chic as the SL but no so sport as the 911.
