Toyota To Test New Market With Prius Minivan, Is This Too AMBITIOUS?
The Truth About Cars reports:

According to Reuters, The Nikkei is reporting that Toyota has approved a “competitively priced Prius hybrid minivan” for production in 2011. The new model will be the first Prius-branded vehicle in a long-rumored campaign by Toyota to stretch the nameplate to new models (future additions to the Prius line could include a compact model, based on the FT-CH concept)...

If this thing is produced looking like that then we will all suffer. If looks alone could cause your eyes to bleed, this would do it.

Toyota and Lexus need to fix whatever problem they're having now with their realiability. I know Toyota and Lexus sold 10+ millions combine and the rate of effect vechicles is very small when compare to the number being sold.

I have driven a Dodge, Ford, Cheverolet, Toyota and Lexus, so my next ride is going to be either an Infiniti G35/G37 coupe Ivory Pearl or black. I might even go German this time around and get a BMW 335i coupe white off course.

Unless Toyota and Lexus is giving an Awesome deal on the generation Lexus IS350 or Lexus coupe (if ever decide to make a real Lexus IS350/GS450 coupe.

Toyota and Lexus, take note, you need to make a "REAL" coupe version of the Lexus IS350 and G350/450 to be taken more seriously in the premium food chains.

My LS is on the outs by year end. I am going back to 100% German for my fleet. No more Lexus for the next 5 years at least.

It doesn't look that far removed from what exists right now. Toyota has already said they plan to start a Prius brand with other models so I suppose it's only a matter of time before things start appearing as such. I actually don't mind the looks of either car.

Before I went blind just now, I liked the idea of a hybrid minivan.

Fact people with kids or small busineses buy mini vans, the people that have either of the two have a need to save money in the form of fuel so this is a great ideal.

Where is the mini van?
How many seats are in there? It looks like 4? Maybe there are two more against the glass?
This looks like it might compete with the Mazda 5. I am not impressed at the small dimensions, Why can't they make a mini Van the size of the Honda Odessy and make an efficient hybrid, I can't imagine taking a family of 6 for a picnic in this, where does everything go like the cooler? Would a cooler fit without folding down the seats, I can only imagine that there are seats in the very back for 6 seat capacity? This is too small if you had a family of 5 and a dog.

Why don't they just focus on making the new Sienna a hybrid? They are the only 4 wheel drive minivan maker in the U.S.; make it a hybrid that comfortably carries 8, and gets 32+mpg on the open road, and they'll have a winner

Good move for Toyota. Prius will take the heat off Toyota's declining image while Toyota regroups.
