If you drive a car like a BMW are you profiled as a 'speeder'?

Even though vehicles of all makes were stopped for exceeding the speed limit, BMW and motorbike drivers were the most frequent offenders, Kgasago pointed out.

He said the record held for speeding was a motorbike driver doing 284km/h in a 120km/h zone. The man was fined R100 000, of which R60 000 was suspended.

Two months ago, a BMW driver was arrested doing 234km/h in a 120km/h zone.

jl...I don't agree with you that all BMW drivers are as you described. Actually I don't really think it's 100% the car. The driver is more to blame for being so self absorbed. A driver can have those attributes in ANY car.

Thank goodness I don't give a sh*t what people think about the kind of car I drive. Especially people who take the time to make general comments about what kind of person drives a certain kind of car.

Money, Status, and Bimmer have nothing to do with speeding. I've been behind many a bimmer who was doing exactly the speed limit, driving me absolutely insane. If you are a can enthusiast, I don't care what kind of money you have or what kind of car you drive, you are going to test its top end. It is the nature of car enthusiasts. If you have a bimmer an are a car enthusiast you have happen to have an excellent car to test.

I think there's a grain of truth to this profiling thing. I've heard of studies that show bright red and bright yellow cars get more tickets than cars of other colors. I've also heard Corvette owners say that they don't dare drive over the speed limit in their 'Vettes, but that they can usually get away with driving 5 to 10 miles an hour over the limit in a more nondescript car.
