Best Shots Yet Of BMW's Latest M5 Surface
The most powerful M5 ever to go on sale is getting closer to reality. Our spies have trapped this mule at the Nurburgring in Germany which shows the dimensions of the deep front splitter, and reveals the giant brakes and trademark quad exhausts in all their glory.

Downsizing is the name of the game, so the old naturally aspirated 507bhp V10 has been ditched in favour of a new, smaller unit. The newcomer will be the first M saloon to feature a turbocharged engine. The M5 will use the innovative direct injection 4.4-litre V8 from the X5 M, which features two turbos nestling in the 90-degree vee of the engine block.

In the big SUV the unit cranks out 547bhp, but in the new saloon, the unit will be boosted to around 572bhp. But the biggest change is that massive increase in torque – the old unit produced 521Nm at very high revs, but the new car will have around 650Nm, making it more flexible to drive, more of the time.

The desing looks nice but very soft for a hard core Sport Sedan...I hope that the final product impress me better than this cause this is a valium pill.

I think it looks great If you think this looks soft then the E39 M5 was soft also....but had tremendous power for its time. I think this looks great the brake rotors cover the whole inside of the wheel which looks like it could be a 20" instead of a 19" wheel. I think this will have the Less is More concept with the M5 badging on it. but of course whatever wheels they use would have to be more agressive looking to really set this car off which the ones in the link below IMO would be perfect. actually I think the one in this link is dead on to what BMW is doing. Now all the public and BMW fans want to see this car personally I know I CANT WAIT but I have too.

They need to improve their design philosophy a lot. Performance is not an issue with the M5.

the b7 stands out more visually than the m5.. they need to beef up this car in the looks dept.. my friend had an m5 for 2 years from 2008-2010 and complained to me that he never got any compliments.. they really dont make it stand out enough over a regular 5 series.

He never got any compliments because the M5 is so common in so many places that it doesn't really turn heads anymore and it wouldn't unless they made it look like a CLS/Panamera look-alike. In which case it wouldn't be an M5 anymore.......
